Marge, I will try to remember that you are now crisp lol! Yes QYW has been a tremendous haven for us, but we can do that here too. It was, after all, only the sum of all our parts. :D

I am hoping there might be some way to use the avatars we had over there for easier recognition, but I cannot even access my user control panel there to retrieve mine. :(

Lovely to see so many familiar faces here already!

Hi,

I am Kathy and my board name on QYW since 2005 was kathyqu1lts - as it is here. It has the number "1" in it because someone had already taken kathyquilts on QYW.

I am married to a full-time farmer, am the mother of one son and three daughters ranging in age from 25 to 18. Two are out on their own, one is in college and the last is a senior in high school. I work two part-time jobs, do the bookwork for the farm, take care of the house and yard and am the gopher for the farm when I get out of work if need be.

I started my first quilt - Eleanor Burns' Log Cabin in a Day - in 1985 when pregnant with my first child and put it away after receiving criticism on color choices from my older sister. :? But I DID finish it by making it into two twin size quilts for my kids' beds -- 10 years later! And I LOVE those quilts to this day! Been quilting since, slowly but steadily, and will have to live a long time to get all my UFO's done, I think!

I play golf (but not seriously so don't ask my scores!), I like to watch NASCAR, hockey and pretty much any sport to some degree. I like to travel for fun, love history and enjoy quilt retreats or shows as well as taking a class to try/learn something new now and then.

It's good to see so many fellow quilters from QYW here and hope all the rest find their way here, too!

Kathy

Hi All I'm Cathy , Sewrite now and have been a member here since 2007 but like so many others went to Quilts Your Way before Alex and Tim set up this quilters wonderland.

Lyn I used the link Debbie set up for us over at QYW and it brought me directly to the QYW Playground. After I signed in just added it to my favorites and am using it for now. I also sign in thru the Quilt Show and once we're used to the beautiful artwork we'll probably start noticing all the other wonderful things.

Alex , thanks so much for setting up the little playground for us till we settle in. It'll be a great place to finish off some of the swaps etc. we still have going on. Its the best of both worlds , can find each other with ease and meanwhile meet and greet the cool folks over here.

QYW isn't completely down yet so some odf us may still be jumping back and forth finishing off some last minute business.

THANK YOU All for the wonderfull Welcome you've extended to us. We're a fairly large group to come from such a small forum, nothing like your numbers but I personally can't wait to get settled in .

From the home page click on "THE FORUM" on the purple bar's drop-down menu. Then if you will click (on the right side of the board index page) where it says "mark forums read" you will start with a clean slate. After that, when you return to the forum board index and want to check the new forum entries, just click (on the left side of the board index page) where it says "view new posts", everything that has been posted since your last visit will be listed. If you haven't read the last entry, there will be a little red icon to the left of the topic. If you click on that icon you will be taken to the first entry that you have not yet read.

You can also "bookmark" the Forum page and come directly here without even going through the Daily Blog/Home pages.

It's really simple to keep track of all the forum topics like that! Welcome to TQS!!!

I have yet to be able to get to this page from the home page for TQS after I sign on. Can someone list the tabs for me please?

QYW stands for Quilts Your Way. It was a MB some went to when Alex closed her AAQ MB several years ago. Anne

While I haven't posted much I have kept up on the QYW board.

Check out the blogs too - if you click on "The Forum" tab there is a link over to the blogs...you should be able to read them easily.
When I post I link over to my blog.
Happy Quilting!

Re: Hello and Welcome 11 Jan 2011 20:55 #53155

Hello,

I’m Margaret and I joined the QYW group in 2008. I just started quilting a couple years ago and already have "acquired" a long UFO list. I have been married for 6 years. We don’t have any children but we love to spend time with our nephews and niece. My husband and I also have a Sheltie and a cat. I would have been lost with out my QYW buddies, local quilt guild and sister-in-law (Stacey - she got my on QYW) last year when I took over guardianship for my dad who has Dementia from my mom who got diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. We recently moved into a new house and I quit my full time job to stay home as a homemaker and full time caregiver for my mother. Quilting is my sanity and am involved with local groups and clubs. I will miss QYW but am thankful for a new spot to share and “talk” with my old friends and hopefully make some new ones.

Thanks,

Margaret

Hi Everyone,
I found the site - Thanks Deb.
I too was on Alex's MB then moved to QYW. It has been a great way to meet and "talk " to friends with the same interests. We have laughed and cried together for many years. I'm so glad to see many of my friends on this site. My screen name here will be frannylyn since franny was taken (I don't think franny could be me from years ago but maybe).
I'm happy to be meeting new people here. I'm a quilter of 20+ years. I lived in Houston for 9 yrs and never went to the Houston Quilt Show - truly a crime. That was when I first started to quilt. I have been married to a wonderful husband for 35 yr., have 4 children, 1 grandchild and a new one on the way this summer, and 2 grand dogs. I live in SW PA - GO STEELERS. I work as a consulting dietitian and love to read in addition to quilt. MY UFO list is long, but my main project is 50 yr quilts. I make a quilt for each member of my immediate family when they turn 50, or soon after that. I have one more to finish for those over 50 then 3 more for those yet to turn 50. Both sets of parents received a quilt for their 50th anniversaries.
Hope everyone has a great week.
