TOPIC: Handprint quilt

Re: Handprint quilt 13 Feb 2012 06:45 #76066

I did a handprint quilt with a toddler of group a few years ago. As it was for display, we just used acrylic paints. For the one I'm making with my daughter, we are using up odds and ends of textile paints. For any colours I don't have, we mix acrylics with fabric medium. I'm not anticipating washing this one much either.

Thanks for the best wishes. After we had done the necessities of food shopping - which included a strawberry cream sponge :D I cleared off my sewing table (major event this!) and did some quilting on my first full size quilt. I still love the design that I made for the quilting, but I need to improve my designing for continious line work, as this is full of stops & starts (sigh). The first flakes were spotted about 3pm , then it got heavier by about 5 and carried on all evening. By sunday we had got about 4" and the light reflecting into the house is wonderful. Isabeau & her dad found a slope for sledging down and had fun there & we all had a snowball fight in the afternoon.

Needless to say, she is disgusted that the school is open today  , because they are usually not allowed out in the snow.

Thank you all for the great advice -- I have contacted Bridget and hopefully she will get back to me soon.
The auction is at the end of March! And I work full-time so hopefully I will be able to have it all done. I have ordered fabric and it should be here tomorrow. I want to have the kids part done by February break so I can work on it then. (Not that I don't have to work that week)

I will post some pictures as I get it done.

Suzanne
p.s. Happy belated Birthday Rosemary! And I am very happy it isn't snowing here on good old Cape Cod!

Ah!!! Thank goodness I'm old enough to be able to stay in bed and my kids have the pleasure of taking their small excited children out into the snow. I can stay indoors and smile indulgently at the neighbourhood littlies outside while I stay indoors in the warm. Happy birthday for yesterday. I hope that you had a good one.
