TOPIC: CW challenge for anyone. Guide on 1st post

Re: CW challenge for anyone 24 Aug 2014 19:02 #120991

Since moving in late May, making a 90" x90" bed quilt for one guest room and the Happiness quilt, plus a donation quilt for a friend's Make a wish event, and other stuff.... I wasn't sure I'd get my yesterday quilt done. We have 3 of 4 kids coming for a week this Wednesday so I knew it had to be done this weekend. I did it! Yay! I'll sneak some time on the computer next Monday to post it. Can't wait to see what everyone else is doing. Thanks Wendy for offering this challenge and keeping us all talking and sharing.

I love TQS and the friends I've made. Thank you!

I think it's safe for me to say I'm not gonna make the dead line on this one ! :(

I have an for my "yesterday" quilt.

Wendy, I thought we weren't supposed to post pictures until September 1. Are you sure you wouldn't like to extend it a month? Everything gets extended a month.

Ritzy, August BOM is much easier than July.

Well the reason I have no pictures of my non-challenge work is because none is done. I am two months behind on this years' BOM, technically--July is almost quilted--August has not even been started. BUT, I do have my challenge piece done.

Messiness comes with creativity Lois enjoy it.

I must say it focuses me to have a good clean up before starting a project I love to see my work top and fabric all sorted in colours and tones before it gets flung on the floor and jumbled up again

So why aren't you all posting pictures of your non 'yesterday' projects :D

I bought some wooden stamps at FOQ so am trying them out on a fabric postcard then fmq and hand embroidery then a horse quilt for my niece.

Lorna, Maureen & Anne, Your recent comments & questions have all rung a bell with me. I have finished my CW challenge except for the border which will be done when I find a certain color of rattail chord. Have I said too much? I will post 9/1 regardless. I have also been successful finishing quite a number of UFO's… 2 wall hangings ( 1 for me and 1 for local library silent auction. Finished quilting my 2nd Laura Nowns quilt. And some other projects which would be more interesting if I had pictures so I'll spare you.

Maureen and Anne your comments about getting the sewing room in order called my name too. I must say the recent broken elbow with doctors directions to keep it mobile with very light work gave me the permission I needed to get my focus out of the garden and into the sewing room. I've had some success with a new way for me to focus my attention. I may need to write a blog about it. My ADD symptoms are hard to deal with and I manage to make messes quite frequently that interfere with my creativity. I so much wanted to do the "15 minutes" of play everyday that a recent TQS suggested, but I ended up creating so much mess I couldn't get my attention focused back on the real work of the day. I think I feel a blog comming on.

Wendy, Thank you so much for offering the "Yesterday Challenge". I can't wait to see what everyone has done.

Mine's done as well. :)

On your mug rug I zig zagged the edge then zig zagged a bit of bias cotton on. Simples

I'm in awe of how much you've been doing. Enjoy your trip

Oh and pictures please x :D

Mine is nearly complete. Wendy how did you finish the mug rug you gave me. It looks like you took a strip of your hand dye and zigzagged it to the edge all the way around?

Thanks! I've been really productive since finishing my Vases and Flowers quilt. I've finished quilting the TQS BOM Crazy Stars. It just needs the binding. I have almost finished quilting TQS BOM Hugs and Kisses. Trying to figure out how I want to quilt the swags in the border. This weekend (I had Friday off too) I completed two baby quilt tops for folks I work with. And yesterday nearly finished the Yesterday CW quilt.

Heading out to catch the train to Bowness-on-Solway. Tomorrow we start our Hadrian's Wall trek!! I'm excited. Hopefully there will be something quilty along the way.

No, it was sometimes a trial. But I am ever so grateful he is well and I guess that is all that matters.
