Congratulations Maureen. Great job! According to my calculations you've completed your task with a week to spare. I hope and pray I can do that well when it's my turn. Now you can sit back and watch the rest of us sweat. Now I'll tell you what I am up too. I am going to visit my daughter in Nevada in a couple of weeks which means I am going to be mighty close to Marilyn. As the crow flies it just doesn't look like it's very far at all but I don' t think there's a road that follows the way the crow flies. Hmmm.... sure would be interesting to take a road trip and peek in her sewing room window. :o  Problem is I won't have a car there and my daughter and grandson have different ideas about how I will spend my time while I am there. Interesting thought! But you don't have to worry I wouldn't do anything to spoil the secret. 8) Just an interesting thought. And a little bit fun to tease.

Maureen, that makes total sense--I just did not make the connection... I did scratch my head (but only for a second) wondering why you would be emailing two people instead of the next one on the list, but I just assumed you had a good reason for it, then I assumed (erroneously) that Lorna was next on the list... Of course, I did not go back to the initial email with the list of participants to check who was on next... And of course, what you said about the possible posting to an APO makes total sense--will await your guidance! :D

Now, Marilyn, how does getting the quilt next make you feel? :D :D :D

I am following the Ladies of the Chinese Whispers with interest, and glad to congratulate Maureen on finishing part One.
Just wanted to say, Maureen, It's not past my bedtime right now, but I got a little dizzy reading your last post about postage. :?

Good luck, Lorna!

Sounds complicated but I'm sure you will have it sussed.

How big did you make it Maureen? Are we allowed to ask that :D

Maureen, how happy you must be to have completed your quilt for Chinese Whispers and are about to pass it on. It was great to read about your journey and thoughts as you went through it--perhaps some of those thoughts will become lessons learned for us to benefit from along the way. I look forward to my turn, although it is so far off... Well, more time to practice my quilting, right? Lorna, how does it feel to be next? :D :D :D

Renata, Marilyn is no 2 on the list. I am sending the quilt to Lorna at her UK address who, very kindly, (as she is in the US services) will then post it to Marilyn in the USA.

As everyone will be sending their inspiration quilt back to me, Lorna and I will try and see if it would be cheaper for the ones in the US to send it to Lorna's US address and then send money to Lorna to post it from her UK address to me or cheaper for you all just to send it to me. Once I send my quilt to Lorna we will know the price of the UK postage and Lorna will be able to tell the postage to her from the US. Sorry if this doesn't make sense at the moment but it is past my bed time and I am very tired. We will give positive details later.

Wendy, your Stevie Smith poem was such a nice respite from an afternoon of practice quilting since the debaucle of the last AAQI quilt...  ...all is well on the lower thread tension front finally... Lois, I trust you are all recovered from your visit to the dentist, you certainly have been most prolific. Rita, I look forward to see what you do with the Velda Newman technique--I envy that you've been able to continue with the Lotti picture while I have not been able to...

Fabulous Maureen, well done getting it started! You can sit back now and wait for them all to be posted to you bit by bit. It will feel wonderful to have it sent on. :D

Well Lois.

It took me a while to actually have a plan of what I was going to make after looking at the photograph for a while. There were lots of ups and downs with add ons and take outs as I changed things along the way :( :( Then of course life gets in the way when I went to a retreat :D and went to workshops :D Layered it up and then started quilting. Some of that was unpicked, as it didn’t work. I had made up a small sample to try out on but what looked good in a small sample didn’t look so good in a larger piece :( After everything was nearly finished I thought of things that could have saved me time and effort if I had not been too close to it all.

I had visitors coming so I made sure I had finished quilting the quilt and sewed on the binding. They left today so I have been hand sewing the binding to the back, made a sleeve and sewed that on. That is me just finished all that. :D :D I am just about to make the label (Rosemary, you don't need to bother about making one for me as I have made my own). I will sew that on tomorrow when I have tidied the house, parcel the quilt up and post it to Lorna on Monday. Lorna will then get it posted to Marilyn. This has been very intense last few weeks, glad it is over.

Marilyn and Lorna I will email you personally tomorrow

Liked the poem, Wendy, poetry is not something I usually read.
Looking forward to your new blog Lois, hope the dental work is all fixed for now - it is usually doublely painful, to the jaw & the wallet

Rosemary, Thanks for giving us a stir. And Wendy, I don't know Stevie Smith but I like his poem. I been busy with quilting stuff and am nearly ready to post a blog but I need to add a few pictures that have not yet been taken. I spent 5 days in Florida last week with my husband and came home and had some significant dental work done. They loaded me up with Valium for a day so I was a bit loopy and ended up sleeping it off. That stuff cuts into creativity and productivity. I am curious about how Maureen is proceding. How's it going Maureen?

Nice poem Wendy. I like Stevie Smith's poetry. :D

I had this plan to do my idea for Lotti's photo. I wanted to paint the images using Velda Newman's method (show 902 I think?). But then I got side-tracked with something else. Maybe tomorrow I will give it a try.
