Meet Charlie the faceless dog. I am so scared now of messing up his face.

Has anyone heard from Limbania? Haven't seen her on here for what seems like a long time.

She's asked if I carry on with Charlie (dog) and the boat, I feel fine with that though I haven't done his facial features yet so that could go pear shaped.

I like the idea of the photo collage behind the dog but with printer AWOL and not much time, I'll keep it simple. Shall I show you dog so far :D
Silly question  of course we want to see it!

I take it you still cannot find your printer  sounds like you really need a tidy up to find that

Wendy, Your friend was willing to have her father represented by a boat. You didn't mention how that part of the quilt was going. I am wondering that since you don't have photo of her mother that is working very well for you could there be another way to symbolize her. If Dad is a boat, who/what is she? Why don't you talk with your friend and try to figure out a way to represent her mother that could work for both of you. Hope you get it figured out. Sounds like you are not quite ready to let the whole thing go. Good luck.

i agree with rita, how about a sort of collage - partially printed photos of the bits that are just too difficult to transform combined with the pieced/appliqued dog and background could be stunning. i would definitely finish the dog as that seems to be coming along well. :)

Wendy, have you thought about printing the photo of your friends mother and the boat onto printer fabric? Just a thought.

No me neither.

While we are waiting for Marilyn to recieve 'The Quilt' I'll share my stress with you.

A facebook friend asked me if I would make a quilt for her of her mother and dog with a boat in the background to represent her father. Full of confidence after doing one portrait quilt I said I would give it a go and received a number of photos of said mother and dog.

There were no pictures of them together but two had light from the same direction so I carried on. I've had to admit defeat and it feels horrid. The mother had glasses with lots of shadows and she was wearing her ordination clothes and friend wanted her in a blouse and dog collar. I've spent hours trying and now I've given up.

It did feel great clearing up all the bits of fusible paper that are littering my sewing room and all the scraps of fabric everywhere. Dogs not bad though I've not done the eyes yet. Would it be wrong of me to carry on finishing that part now? :?

So I wasn't too farfetched in my concept of what I would do for a design... :D :D :D Would have never guessed the "housewarming" part of it, though...

No time for volcanos, or ends of the world... There's quilts to think up and make happen, and trips to Scotland to become reality...
Am soooooooooooo looking forward to seeing the whole whispering lot there, yeah...

Made it back from Dusseldorf, the last exhibition of this year over and done with, all our stuff got back today as well, so i'll spend the next few days unpacking and sorting... And then on to the budget...

But first, anshort explanation of my photo: end August we had the 25 yr anniversary combined with the 'housewarming' of the new building at our German subsidiary company in Munich. And they organized this great jazz&blues trio

The blue sneakers belong to the drummer

I always find that hiding behind the camera, on top of staircases, and behind a plant or two is much safer than getting caught up front where they might make me join in the dancing.
Oh yes - there was dancing - lots of dancing !

To preserve anonymity... Dancing feet only :
