I've been wrestling with my Too Loud Man/Dog Rose 1 quilt all week. Machine quilted using my walking foot, with a nice thick blanket for the wadding  (about twice the thickness of Ricky's quilts) and I even measured the size of my machine harp - it is 6.5". Still love the design, although it would have been much more suited to hand quilting, despite all the heaving & hauling around, even lost one fingernail (which goes to prove that they needed trimming  )

I also recieved a beautiful birthday present from Norma, Thank you so much Norma, with instructions to use it and love it to death...

Going to the East Yorkshire Embroidery Society this afternoon, hope it is a good talk today.

I'm afraid not Maureen. The only gig north of the border this year is in Derry on 20th December. I will be at the other end of the country in Kerry rehearsing for a concert in the May festival 'Feile na Bealtaine'. Looks like it's going to have to be Loch Lomond in 2014. :D

Rita, my sister and I are going to Belfast/Lisburn over the Easter holidays to see the sister that had breast cancer last year. Any chance you might be up that way singing :?: :?:

Limbania,

I am so sorry to hear your bad news. 4 1/2 years ago I was diagnosed with breast ductal carcinoma in situ. It is a scary thing. Made it through surgery and radiation therapy. Then just last week had to have a breast biopsy. (darn it all) Just got word today that this time it is benign.

We all know this is difficult times for you and your family. Hang in there. Lots of hugs and prayers coming your way.

Lorna

Glad to hear you are OK now. As you say a scary time for anyone. My sister in Belfast went through it last year, surgery and radiation therapy and has progressed really well, in fact she is back at work now. It is wonderful how much medicine has progressed in Cancer research :) :)

My quilt was approx 26" square. I kept it towards the minimum size because of the postage. Are you talking about the CW quilts next Christmas :?: :?:

Good wishes for everyone in the north east US! I hope everyone stays safe and warm!

This weekend I'm going to continue working on my Friendship series quilts and start designing the quilting for my tablecloth quilt. I'm also thinking about doing Ricky's Heart Blossoms project, just for fun. And, if the roads aren't bad, I might make a little trip to my LQS for their fat-quarter sale. I think I can squeeze in a little more fabric without making the house explode....

Actually, we are on the lower south western edge of the weather alert area. Some meterologists are predicting 1"-2" inches of snow and others are predicting 3"-4" for us. It's our friends in Boston I'm worried about. They are telling folks up that way all vehicles must to be off the roads by 12 noon today. That warning was giving in advance of the storm. I've never experienced anything like that before. They are saying Boston could get 3ft of snow with 30-35 mph winds and gusts up to 50 mph. It will be a dangerous storm if that's the case. Say your prayers for those folks. There has also been some concerns about the times of the tides and more coastal flooding for many of those same folks who suffered Sandy's havoc. So far we've have a dusting of snow and now such a fine sparse mist of rain it imperceptible unless you are outside in the car noticing pinprick size droplets on the windshield. Pavements are barely wet. Guess that means all the moisture predicted here is going elsewhere. We'll see.

So what's everybody else doing?

I needed to ban myself from my sewing room. I have not been there since the end of the first week in January. It's time to send for my Social Work license renewal and I was behind in my Continuing Education credits. My DH and I visited DD in Nevada and then went on to San Diego where my husband was doing a Continuing Education Course. I took my educational CD's along and listened to them and knitted in the hotel while he was in class. We had time to walk the beach, attend plays and eat at great restaurants in the late afternoons and evenings. I got to visit the Vision Museum and saw a wonderful quilt exhibit. No picts allow, but I saw works by Katie Mausopust and Velda Newman. It was wonderful to see the quilts in person. While at the museum I purchased the documentary "stitched". We were gone 1/23 until 2/2. Been home 6 days and finially finished my CE's yesterday. I have to catch up on some volunteer work at church this morning but this afternoon I am hoping to get some time in the sewing room. I hardly know where I want to start. I do have plenty on the go... Laura Nownes, Lauren Vleck, Christine Barnes stuff, and more.

Lorna it is fantastic news - you must be unbelievably relieved to have that result.

I wonder what size the whispers quilts are. I have visions of Maureen's miniature Christmas guests!

So what's everybody else doing? I am working on the BOM. Months 1 and 2 have been a lot of work and time and I am still not finished yet. I have also been slowly working on the borders of my WotRoTT quilt. And I know I need to start quilting my niece's quilt because 28th May will be upon us before you know it. I don't want to be doing that a week before.

Now then Maureen, what are you up to? Dreaming of your house being full of whisper quilts. You better not have anyone over for Christmas this year  or could they sleep on them?
