Off Topic - but then since I can't talk about what is on topic, does that make talking off topic on topic?

A couple of weeks ago I strolled into a local(ish) gentleman's outfitters, that also does alterations with my CV to see if they had any openings for an alterations tailoress. They said no because it is the 'flat season' (not much work coming in) but would I like to go in the following week for a try out so that they could see what I could do. Well, I did this last Thursday - horribly slow at shortening the jacket sleeves but good finish eventually. Again 'we don't have the work at the moment but could they call on me next year when it picks up.' Yes says I.

Yesterday a phone call, the man who does the jackets has handed in his notice and would I be interested in starting with them for 3 full days per week... in 2 weeks time! - Does a bear c**p in the woods! Yes pleeease! A bit of negotation since I have to give 1 months notice to the school, but because school is across midday, I can start with part-time mornings until I have worked my notice and then after the school half term I will be working exclusively for them. Three times the hours, compacted into 3 days, and I won't have to sort out playground squabbles and obstreperous kids. YEE HA! :D :D :D 8)

The only down side is that they start at 8am! I really don't do mornings  - Izzy laughed her head off at that last bit of the news, delightful child that she is.

I think that it's fine if we end up back at the original schedule. But it's also good to try to get the quilt done as quickly as possible just because you never know what is going to happen, as we've seen several times already. I don't think there should be any pressure on Rosemary (and we don't seem like the kind of group that pressures people anyway), but if she happens to get it done earlier than the original time, then that's great. If the person that receives it early can't work on it at that time, then so be it. But at least the uncertainties of the post are out of the way and the receiver has more time to think about their design while doing whatever else they need to do.

I guess I'm just saying -- it's all good. (Or I'm saying nothing at all, which is usually the case for me...)

Here's my 2 cents. I got the quilt a bit earlier than expected too. It could have been a surprise I wasn't ready for but fortunately I did not have trips planned nor did I have houseguests which often is the case in the summer. I was able to accomodate the change. It could have been different had I planned my summer differently. Just because we are ahead of schedule do we have to stay ahead of schedule? I believe the commitment we agreed to for this project is to be available to work on it during the time we expected to have the quilt in the first place. There are extra days already added to deal with Holidays.

So DH is away till the end of the week, thought I would be able to get some serious sewing done (and some not so serious sewing  ) Then my parents asked if they could pop up for a couple of days.... The guest beds are their usual '3foot under', so I am clearing up our bedroom for them to stay in (& boy does it need it  ), and I will take the top guest bed,- marginally easier to sort out that way and less disruption to the sewing part of guest/sewing room.

Of course you can get it done, Rosemary. Look at what you did on Caught Red Handed. You'll do great. Everyone is sending positive creative vibes your way.

Now I am starting to get nervous...

Thanks Wendy. I would prefer to keep to the schedule if at all possible. My real concern is that things can get lost for a very long time in the post over Christmas so I would prefer to get mine in the post to you as early in December as possible. Let's wait and see how Rosemary is doing will we? I am sure it will all be grand :D

I was only thinking maybe a week at tops, since it arrived with me 10-12 days earlier than prognosticated, when I couldn't possibly work on it, because of a) shopping requirements & b)finishing CR-H. It would be putting us back to about the time table before Lois was such an early bird.

It is coming together nicely at the moment and I know what should be happening too 8)

Wendy, I hope you meant, "Rosemary behave!" Looks like Rita's on pins and needles like you are!
