Your quilt is incredible, Rosemary! Congratulations on a job very well done. I hope you have fun quilting it and then post some close-ups pics for us to enjoy. The blog was very interesting. I sure would like to visit the Cottage shop and see all those beautiful quilts up close & personal.

Oooh, I want to see a photo of the finished quilting. I've always wanted to do the Welsh style of quilting- I have a couple of books about it but haven't done it yet. I'm part Welsh on my Mother's side so feel a call to that style. Kathy

And there was me thinking that I was doing the Ribbon Star for the outer border, like this one

WOW!! Rosemary it's looking fabulous! And how appropriate to use the Friendship Star block!! You do such creative stuff, I can't wait to see the rest of it assembled and what you decide to put on the back!

BTW....maybe you could have a long-armer baste it together for you with Superior's VANISH?? Then you can do the quilting without worrying about it shifting.

Barbara, your HST quilt looks wonderful! I vote for the dark blue that is down near the floor. I think it would have a very deep, rich feel to it, then. Be sure to share it once it is finished!

Rita, I love your changing scenery! You live in a beautiful area of the world!

Barbara, I use lots of starch and find it more economical to mix my own. I use Sta-Flo and mix it half and half with water in a spray bottle. Here is one of my tutorials that shows how I starch my fabrics for piecing:
