I ordered some from the post office, too, and it did take a little over a week to get them. Since April 1 is still over a month away, there's plenty of time to get them in the mail. Isn't it nice to know that they're finished and all you need to do is mail them once you get back home?

Enjoy your trip to sunny Mesa!

Well, I finally think I am about done sewing HTS's! I have trimmed all the ones sewn and found several more scraps that will still be able to be used for another HTS! A few have to stay home with me bacause they didn't quite have enough fabric out in the seam allowances :( Not really! I have finally finished writing my name and address over 400 times! :D Just have to cut the rectangles into 2's and will be ready to stuff the envelopes and find the post office. Of course, I have already gone on to 3 more projects with my scraps-I am doing pinwheels for at least 3 or maybe 4 quilts-thought I would give them a whirl for a change! So, have to cut background fabrics this afternoon and can then start construction on the pinwheels! Hey, March winds are coming and I want to be ready!

Would love to meet you too. Might have to look into this evening dinner thing Margo was talking about. Sounds like big fun.

Beautiful star block, Margo! My favourite block! I am getting interested in these miniature quilts, scrappier the better. So could you recommend a book or website on this subject? I was wondering what counts as miniature? I have been sewing blocks with 1 inch finished size HST's. So are miniatures much smaller? Thank you,
Satu

A true miniature isn't just small pieces. You need to be able to view a photo of an entire miniature quilt and not be able to tell what size it is. It should look like an entire, full sized quilt. Just smaller.

If you do search on Amazon for books about miniature quilts you will have lots of choices, and most of them are just small pieces, but in my estimation the definitive authority is the AQS book:
http://www.americanquilter.com/books_supplies/item_detail.php?id=7086

If you click on the cover photo you can get a closer look at it. The quilt on the cover is by Judy Spiers and measures 20" x 20"!!

And if you ever get to the museum in Paducah, when you come into the viewing area for these quilts, you will just stand there and say "OH WOW!"
I think it's a law, but you really can't help it!!

Thank you Margo of these tips! Now I know what we are talking about. (There are mini quilts and then there are miniatures.) And I say OH WOW! And I am still interested  , maybe I just gradually use smaller and smaller pieces, and some day will be able to make my own miniature.

It's just as well I have completed my HST, as I landed a full time job 2 weeks ago. I've made 1320 HST, but I will not be sending them all to SoTT's. I had thought to send about 840, but will cut that back to 700. So what to do about all that opening and pressing and paper ripping?? I rang a couple of friends who are not part of SoTT or Batiks R Us, and they think I'm mad , but they are willing to help. So we are having a "Pressing Party" some time in late May or early June. They will come prepared with Irons, and I supply lunch, soup and bread rolls. Did I mention that they are quilters? Can you see us standing around going Oooooohhhhh and Aaaahhhhhhhh! I think I'm looking forward to the reveal..... I might have to get busy and make more HST, just to keep them busy on the day. Even 1320 HST takes up very little room on the table! Working on patterns now and I'm thinking about 2 Quilts, maybe if I get more done I could make a queen size, that would be interesting! Well I think I will print a few more sheets and just do them.... keep me going.

WoW! Liesje - You sound like you are definitely, positively and soundly addicted! Probably you are becoming a growing influence on your quilter friends - they are so nice to help you for a cup of soup LOL - but I think quilters would help anyone for nothing - it's in our bones! I am so excited about this exchange and glad to know that for others, this is their first exchange as well as mine. I was thinking an annual event, but I think maybe we couldn't wait that long! I think anyone who has a hubby who knows what a Half Square Triangle or a fat quarter is, is definitely a quilt addict.

Rosemary, that is so cool what you did with my little star block! I'm loving it just the way it is, more and more. By that, I mean, with duplicate fabrics in the same block. I will have duplicates of all of my fabrics, since I am cutting each HST into 4 pieces. So, I'll probably have lots of different colors of stars. Oh, isn't this going to be fun! (This is also my very first exchange!) :D :D

I went to a wonderful quilt retreat last weekend in between Houston and Dallas, Texas --- From noon on Thursday until 3 on Sunday all I had to worry about was my fabric! :D I managed to get several sets of triangles done and hope to finish up this weekend. Trying to finish off the entire package of Edyta's papers (between the exchange, sending some for Australia and Hanne-Grete - and some for myself)! This is my first exchange of any kind - Can't wait to see what all comes back to me!

Love reading everyone's comments!

You girls are just to sweet! As we speak I am trying to move into my new sewingroom. It takes time between work and travelling to get those boxes in from the garage! Sweetest Bjoern has been painting the walls and I have painted the mouldings. I'll tell you it needed to be updated as it used to be my youngest sons room with dark green walls..yiiiks:) I have set up the cutting table, 2 sewingtables and the quiltframe. Thought I would have tons of space and so did Bjoern, but he has stated he need to fix up the nextdoor room in a hurry.
In a way the flooding was God sent. As you know I have hoped to move back home for over a year. So with the flooding and no place to stay I just packed down my office and apt and moved back home. Second best thing with the flood is getting a new passport. Things can be replaced and my little wet event is nothing compared to what some of our friends here at TQS are going trough.
Needless to say you are an awsome group of women! Women who stands up for each other in all aspect of life is just wonderful!

I will post pictures when I am done with all the unpacking everything from wool socks to fabric:))

This is so fun. It's my first "new" project in over 3 years. I was thinking about the comments about friendship quilts. I sleep under my friendship quilt that some TQS members who are in this exchange, made me when I was diagnosed with cancer. I have not been able to quilt for some time because of health (oddly the cancer was the not the hindrance to life as usual, other things were). Because of working reduced hours for a couple years, this year is a catch up year financially so I'm working on UFO's. Anyway, I love that this year's UFO's are the 2008 and 2009 BOMs from TQS and this new project. It seems very fitting in the circle of a quilter's life which friendship has so much part in.

Hey Dawn,

I've just had fun with your mini block, I was wondering what it would look like if it was a light star on a dark background, and found a couple of other ideas along the way :D
805_lus_3_variations.JPG

This was simply done in windows paint, using 'select', 'copy', 'paste', and 'image rotate'. I could now carry on and design my whole quilt 'copying and pasting' your samples while I wait for the sortings to happen. :P

Hey - I've got my own Design Wall, without taking up wall space :!:
