Hi all you wonderful sisters,
I have just returned from a trip to Brisbane and met a lady by chance and in talking she told me that she only has a roof and 4 exterior walls left of her home, she lost everything and the insurance companies are holding repairs up. In talking to her I asked if she had any linen, etc. and when I told her what we were making in Cairns and would she like a quilt - tears came into her eyes, so far I have the names of 5 special ladies who will be receiving a quilt and I know that they will be greatly appreciated. My ladies here have all been making hst's and delivering them to me. I hope your sorting day is lots of fun.

I can't wait to help Debbie and Carla sort!! I got my batik exchange hst's back today - It was a thrill to open the package.

If you get a chance, go to the Batik Exchange Forum - I just posted 2 pics I took of the name labels on them which I will print and transfer to fabric to use as a part of the quilt label for this special quilt.

Debbie..... After reading your post about having to rent a hall I feel like I did not send enough moola! Please post if you could use a bit more help!

THIS IS IT...DEADLINE DAY!!! I'm still waiting on a few more packages to get through the sometimes sluggish mail service, both here and abroad, but since I know they're on their way, I should be able to wait for them...at least until sorting day.

Sorting Day did have to be scheduled in advance in order to reserve the church activity hall and let our sorter's know so they could 'save the date'. But we're still not telling when !

I will keep updating the Forum as numbers increase and interesting information arises that we want to share with you, so please be sure to check back on a regular basis. I know Clara will be posting updates along the way too.

Many, many thanks to all of you who have participated in this unprecedented event. There are some absolutely beautiful HSTs to be redistributed and I don't think anyone willl be disappointed with their 'Christmas in April' packages.

Thanks also to those who sent wonderful surprises for Clara, me and our helpers and we are especially grateful for the cash & checks to help us with food & supply expenses. Since we didn't anticipate such a large turnout, we thought this was something that could have been easily done in my home without too much help....haha ...that idea sure fell through the cracks pretty quickly!

Now that we are having to used a church hall, recruit and 'feed & water' 20-30 volunteers that day, it has definitely become a lot more than we ever anticipated.

Another big shout out of thanks to all of you who generously shared some of your HSTs for donations to Queensland, Norway and New Zealand. The monetary donations that were sent will also go toward postage to get those to their new homes across the water!
