TOPIC: SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING TRIANGLES EXCHANGE

Re: SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING TRIANGLES EXCHANGE 31 Jan 2011 20:31 #56028

Just a quick tip that I discovered tonight when cutting apart some of my HSTs....I have a fairly severe astigmatism, and my eyes were straining trying to decipher which line to focus on between those on my cutting mat, lines on my ruler, and the lines on the HST papers...I got the bright idea to flip over my cutting mat to the unmarked side and VOILA!!! my eyes settled down and it was much easier to focus on the right lines! Where there's a will there is a way! Nancy

I just wanted to thank the member who suggested using the walking foot to sew the HST with the paper. It worked like a dream. I had forgotten why I don't do paper piecing anymore. I figured it out when I started sewing. I hate the sound of the needle going throught the paper and fabric. It's like fingers on a chalk board. Gives me the willies!! But I will keep soldiering on as I want to be in this exchange. I also remembered I hate removing the paper. Edyta's paper is better than some I have used. I am making extras for a quilt I have not even thought about. I did order one of Edyta's books. I hope everyone is using a smaller stitch so I can get the paper off.

How do I get to the batik exchange? I may want to join that also.

I made about 420 half square triangles on Saturday -- some for the SoTT exchange, batik exchange and also one at my LQS. Last night I dreamed about half square triangles!!! I wonder why?!

I may need a bigger quilting room! Have stacks of HSTs on all the spare horizontal surfaces. Off for more happy stitching...
Hope everyone enjoys being snowed/iced in with their scrappy triangles.

Uh oh. Got the papers last week. Got my fabrics picked out. Now I can't get to my studio (abt 12 miles away) because of the weather: ice now, snow to come! Thank goodness the deadline isn't for awhile. But I'm sure you all can relate to being so excited to begin!

You will find some helpful tips for navigating the TQS forum here: forum/forum-questions-and-suggestions/4275-tips-for-using-the-tqs-forum

That link includes a link to the Signature info which can be found here: forum/forum-questions-and-suggestions/3670-signatures-on-the-forum

For what it's worth, some people (including me!) had to try a couple of times to get the signature just the way we wanted it to show up. Don't get discouraged!
Just print out the directions and take them one step at a time. You can do it! :D

Sorting Captain here. When the moment gets closer, we would graciously accept any help around the Houston, TX area. We still have a ways to go until that moment, so don't fret about that. Now is the time for us to enjoy working on our HST and wonder what they will become and share on each other's excitement on what there's will become. I just have to make up my mind on what fabric I'm going to use for the darks. Humm. Clara :D

Are you going to use the same fabrics for all of your HSTs?

My son would LOVE to help, although his idea of help and your idea of help are two very different ideas  . Unfortunately he will be unavailable to assist - as someone else pointed out we are in northern IL (unless someone wants to host an active toddler - mommy and daddy could really use some sleep ... any takers?)

Hi Margo ,
Somewhere along the way I missed how to put a signature on the posts. Could you repeat how you did it.

Thanks, Deanna

There will be between 17,220 and 430,500 triangles exchanged - I hope you have a very big table! My 18 month old son helped to pick out the fabric - should make for some interesting half square triangles. Thank-you for doing this very exciting and very large project!

OUCH! Those numbers make my head hurt!

My DH just said "Pay no attention....it's a scare tactic!"
Wait a minute. Don't get any thoughts about your 18 month old helping us sort. Too distracting for us. I bet he's a cutie. We are going to try for many very big tables! Clara

Hmmmm....looks like serin10 lives near Chicago. Maybe she and the toddler will be snowed in for the duration.
