Sorting Captain here. When the moment gets closer, we would graciously accept any help around the Houston, TX area. We still have a ways to go until that moment, so don't fret about that. Now is the time for us to enjoy working on our HST and wonder what they will become and share on each other's excitement on what there's will become. I just have to make up my mind on what fabric I'm going to use for the darks. Humm. Clara :D

Are you going to use the same fabrics for all of your HSTs?

ConnieJean
Probably not, but then again I haven't made up my mind. I was even thinking if it warmed up a couple of days I would dye some fabric just for this occasion. (Don't forget I live in Texas. We were in the 70s on Sunday and today it is 30.) Clara

Typical, I went to get the HST from local shop, and they don't have them, and now it is a snowy mix for the next couple days before I can check the other shop. Due to get up to and inch of ice with this storm. Maybe I'll just make my own with graph paper and a printer. Don't worry, I'll remember the spacing for cutting and check for accuracy before sending. Don't get excited, I did say MAYBE....

Cheryl, you can just print out your own from this web site: http://www.quiltingandwhatnot.ca/Half-Square-Triangle.html
Be sure to choose the 2" finished size.

And please make sure that your paper is easy to remove! THANKS!

Earlier one of the STTs mentioned online triangle patterns....

That will save you some drafting.....these are great in an emergency!

Have fun!

I signed up for this group, and maybe the other one "Friendship Traveling Triangles". My question is this a merge of both groups?
A lot of people signed up without indicating how many triangles they were going to be sending/swaping. Do you have a feel for how many you are going to get? I signed up for 10 sheets, but would like to do more as it is so easy to do. May I do more at this point in the swap?
I have decided on a project and will need 640 scrappy HSTs and more that are not scrappy... boy that is a lot of HSTs, so glad it is easy to make them and now to swap them too. Thank you to the organizers.... you are in for a lot of mail and many more HSTs....

I have my HST ready to mail. I stopped by the post office today to get the boxes. To send two boxes to Texas, I got a small and medium. Tonight I put 637 HST in the small box and then the small box in the medium. They fit fine, so I know I am ready to send them to Texas. If you put them in quart bags they don't move around.
Tomorrow is another project ready to be on it way.

That's very helpful info, thanks! I've done about 300 so far, so it looks like I will be able to get to 615 fairly easily. :D

Florence

Florence - please remember that 615 is not divisible ito increments of 28...and we are requesting increments of 28 for sorting purposes.

Thanks,
Debbie

[ I haven't even started mine yet! Hmmmm...I wonder why? Could it be that I haven't been able to get 3 feet away from my computer this past week and a half??? I am very anxious to get started on them though.

I bet you never imagined that we would end up with so many participants! It was truly amazing to watch the excitement grow. Now we have to let you get back to your real sewing life, except of course for those trips to the post office.

And we all are sewing and cutting, planning our wonderful quilts. :)

I just wanted to thank the member who suggested using the walking foot to sew the HST with the paper. It worked like a dream. I had forgotten why I don't do paper piecing anymore. I figured it out when I started sewing. I hate the sound of the needle going throught the paper and fabric. It's like fingers on a chalk board. Gives me the willies!! But I will keep soldiering on as I want to be in this exchange. I also remembered I hate removing the paper. Edyta's paper is better than some I have used. I am making extras for a quilt I have not even thought about. I did order one of Edyta's books. I hope everyone is using a smaller stitch so I can get the paper off.

Just a quick tip that I discovered tonight when cutting apart some of my HSTs....I have a fairly severe astigmatism, and my eyes were straining trying to decipher which line to focus on between those on my cutting mat, lines on my ruler, and the lines on the HST papers...I got the bright idea to flip over my cutting mat to the unmarked side and VOILA!!! my eyes settled down and it was much easier to focus on the right lines! Where there's a will there is a way! Nancy

Thank you, Nancy! I also have a bad astigmatism. I've just trimmed around the outsides of the papers and was kind of dreading the inside cuts. I'll turn the mat over. The lines do jump around with the mat marked side up. Kathy :)
