Rita, thanks!!! You are so right! Finishing the peony felt good, receiving the registration number from AAQI felt especially nice. Renata

Renata your poeny is really lovely. Well done for completing it and sending it off. It's a great feeling isn't it? :D

Clara, black-on-black micro-stippling seemed like the only reasonable choice I had because of the design. You may as well have blindfolded me though... the good part is you don't see all the mistakes until you turn it over, but at least there were not bird's nests...

You betcha! Whenever I sigh and think the stack of quilts waiting to be scanned isn't going down quickly enough I pick one up and just am fascinated by a technique or a fabric combination.

You are in a great position to seeing all these quilts come in. Lucky.

I finished my Asian-inspired pineapple block quilt the other day and just received my registration number--9606--from AAQI. That was really quick turnaround from AAQI!

It's a modest effort commensurate with my skill level, but I learned a lot on this block: micro-stippling black-on-black was hard to do, miniature piping not so difficult and the easiest part was the hand-embroidered stamen using Pekin knot technique because it probably was the only thing on the block that I really knew how to do... The advice given on micro-stippling the black background of the flower along with outlining the flower itself and using wool batting was great-- the peony looks like it has been done in trapunto even though it hasn't.

Thank you, Nancy, Lois, Rita and Danny for your ideas on quilting and for encouraging me to finish at least ONE THING! :D :D :D It is for such a worthy cause!

Thank you, Diane but don't look too close when you get it... it's a beginner's quilt...

I am going to wait and complete another AAQI quilt before I register them and mail so it will be a while before I post them here. We have community wide Porch Sale this next Saturday so I am working to thin out STUFF. I found a container with beautiful batiks that got misplaced when we moved in 98 and it is so cool to find this stuff. No, it won't be in sale! :)

Hey guys. I've been trying to get busy and do some quilting everyday. Building a habit takes time and constant reminders, especially with young ones around always pulling you away. I am happy to say that I have quilted a minimum of an hour and a half a day. Sometimes more, but at least that amount. Me excited!!!

Gotta make time for yourself when life is crazy, so you have more to give.

Way to be focused. I need some lessons and also a maid........
