Thank you, Rita! I watched Sally Collins' video one last time yesterday and then made this little quilt to remember her techniques for perfect piecing (wish I could say my piecing is perfect but it's not, but at least I'll remember her main points after doing this little number).

Okay... I did not quite post the quilt size on my forehead this time, but this little one is exactly 8x8" ("8" is a lucky number in Chinese because it means "wealth" I just think the quilt is lucky because I made it the right size for acceptance by AAQI this time (unlike my A Day in West Africa.   I am calling this little quilt Autumn Garden because of the fall colors and the fact that there are chrysanthemums in the mix, popular fall flowers.

Rotten nusiance, but is does put you ahead in the xmas pressy's stakes

   The irony is that I KNEW about the 9x12" and ended the quilting with a 9" square (plus 1/4" all around to attach the binding) but forgot the binding takes up space... :x Oh, well...

The good news is that everyone, family and friends, from Virginia to New Jersey and New York, all came through Hurricane Sandy without losses of life or limb, just some flooding and power outages that might last through next week. We're still waiting to hear from dear friends in Staten Island, but they live on North Shore--not subject to evacuations--so they probably have power outages and can't get back to us quite yet. Very, very grateful!
That is AWESOME news!

Oh no Renata, that is such a shame. Well I am sure somebody will love it as a Christmas or birthday present. You will have to make another one now. :D

Wow, I am so disappointed... A Day in West Africa won't be going to AAQI after all...   I went to fill out the form only to realize that the max dimension is 9x12" and mine is 9 1/2 x 9 1/2' because of the binding... and there is nothing I can do to make it smaller because of the flying geese... I guess I just wasn't thinking  . I'll pay better attention next time... Too bad because I totally enjoyed making this one as a Priority Quilt.
My heart breaks for you. It is a gorgeous quilt. Keep it or give it as a gift. Clara
