You lucky gal! I love your valor quilt idea - pay forward:)

I test drove the 830 this week and am saving my pennies for the 820 coming out in June.

Happy Quilting,
jo

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and wishes...I am having a wonderful time. I've started piecing my quilt of valor..I'm using Eleanor Burns method for the flying geese units and I found that if I used the dual feed and 1D foot, I could sew those long diagonals with no pulling or puckering. I've tried both the regular 37 foot and 57 foot...I can't wait for the 37 foot with the cutout for dual feed to come out! And a straight stitch needle plate too...that will make it perfect for piecing.

I haven't even tried the embroidery unit yet, I'm still learning all the new features for sewing! I just love winding bobbins and threading the machine..it's perfect and easy. I was doing a little machine quilting and got a message that I had 20% of my bobbin left...the next time I looked up it said 14%...not just "low bobbin", but exactly how much bobbin is left! That will be a great feature when I try to decide if there really is enough bobbin left to to start that top stitching without stopping, or should a wind a new one first.

I do love my sewing room...DH has made sure I have everything I need or want in here. It's funny the pictures don't exactly look like the room sitting here in it! It's 25' X 30' and I still wish I had more space. My fabric is stored in the walk in closet, which isn't the most convienent, but it does keep it out of the sunlight.

The "Bird" is disappointed I didn't put his picture up! He hangs in the dormer and keeps me company. He's a Love Bird and let me tell you that name's misleading! He would bite my finger off in a second if I gave him a chance! Little Devil!

Have a great weekend!
Darlene

Oh Carla you are going to love this! My husband's uncle who was a Rear Admiral in the Navy passed away. He had no children of his own, and thought a lot of his nephews so he left each of them a nice inheritance. After taking care of the family, bills and some home improvements we used the money to buy the 830.

My first project on the 830 is a quilt of valor that I'm going to donate in our uncle's name.

Never say never!

Happy Thanksgiving!
