Eileen I'm so sorry you lost your mum recently too, it takes a long time to come to terms with the loss, you never stop missing them but I hope your good memories and family will help you through it.

Geneva, I feel your pain-my Mom passed on July 12th. I was able to be with her the evening before; she was in a waking coma condition. I believe she knew I was there because she kept her hand on my knee while I sat with her. I got the call the next morning. I wish I'd had the chance to be with her as you did with your mother. My mother was 99, and loved me, her grandchildren and her great grandson. She loved to travel across the USA, loved to read and play her word games.

I'm sorry to have grabbed this thread. I just needed to share.

Sorry to hear you lost your Mum Geneva, you'll think of her sewing and that'll give you comfort.

Your dying looks fun. Was the runner made with those fabrics.

Your family is lovely x

Geneva,
I’m encouraged to hear about your Mom's passing being a gentle and loving moment for both of you. The new normal will take care of itself, just give it whatever amount of time it takes.

And, I’m really liking your 24 step color wheel. If you are allowed to, (copyright and all) can you tell me what your three pure dyes were, and if you mixed them with a special ratio. Often I just use half of each primary to get my secondary colors, then for the tertiaries I use half of the dyes to each side, and continue like that. Other times for tertiary colors I use 1/4 from one pure and 3/4 from the other pure. Just love your 'flow'. Also did you do low water immersion with lots of massaging or was it a full submersion. I enjoy dyeing fabric so much that I’m always interested in how others achieve there outcome.

May God give you just enough strength for each step forward.

Hello all,

I have so missed you. I hope the summer is good for you.

My mother passed away last Sunday. It was a gentle, loving passing holding hands with her. She was 89 years young and lived her life with incredible gusto, passion and love. She was my first and best supporter (along with my husband), of my sewing addiction. When I was 13 years old she bought me a used Singer sewing machine and the rest is history. She couldn't sew, but understood that I had a passion and talent and supported that.

It's been a hectic week of course, but my loving family insisted I attend a dyeing class one morning. It was so fun, and I needed to get away like that. Here's what I dyed. This was so good for my soul.

I went into my sewing room yesterday after more than 2 weeks. I had completed this tablerunner top and started quilting it yesterday. It was so peaceful, relaxing, enjoyable and satisfying. I have missed quilting.

The caregiving job in my life has ended. I now clean up details and learn what my new normal is. I've got several ideas/projects spinning about in my head. I can't wait to start them!

Oh! And here's another picture of the joy in my life.

Hugs and love to you all. geneva
