Ok, it's time for me to confess! I don't cut or sew as precisely as this mystery quilt should have been done. That being said, you will notice that my two borders that should have been one color are two colors. My square center wasn't square, and it was off by 1/4 to 1/2 inch. So once the red border was on I thought everything would be ok. But my row of 9 square in a square blocks was yet another inch larger than the smallest side of what was now the center. So I added the gold, only I couldn't add the same amount to all sides, as the rows with 11 blocks were just a bit further off! So I twiddle and tweaked my numbers til I figured I would at least get the rows of blocks to line up. This did work out nicely. Then, obviously the second border of red needed to be adjusted and I was concerned that if I didn't add the gold again it would look too much like a goof. So I pieced the strip extra long for each side, pinned from the middle out, only sewed to and from the 1/4 inch mark. I back stitched very carefully so I could make those mitered corners. I'm about an inch and a quarter larger than it should be, but I can trim it to work with whatever comes next. Or add to it if I goof up again. I do like how it's coming out.

I think it looks like it was planned all along. Don't you love it when that happens?

Really like your color choices and how they 'read'.

The mystery to me is that I'm sure Terri said that the finished top would colour 'read' as fabrics no 2 & 3, which for me is blues/purples  so far it is definitely reading green.... The stripes haven't been a problem so far, but my counting of triangles sucks :pinch:

Just a quick note reflecting on what a joy it has been to see Lotti's "smiling face" back here in the forum. Hoping she does see many smiling faces as she works today. Her photographic inspiration is awesome.

Die Looking great, Rosemary
I have 22 pages printed laying on my ironing table (not stable stuff - never even thought of it - just regular printing paper - will have to replace the needle when I'm finished, but I can live with that - but another week and a half at least before I can do them...

Here in Düsseldorf everything on track - only took picture with the big camera yesterday - but will take some with the phone to update today - I hope
Breakfast in fifteen minutes and then off to the show - we'll see what the day will bring - hopefully lots of smiling faces ...

Enjoy yours B)

Rosemary,
I don't use green very much, but I'm sure liking your combination of colors.

So I sewed the first round of triangles on, started sewing the second round of triangles on and discovered that they were not going on square  Unpicked the second round of triangles and tried to check them for size & squareness (thanks for the measurement Geneva) it was at this point that the new ruler I bought at FoQ doesn't really do it for me, as it has a 1/16" blue line along the edge so you cannot see where the fabric edge is  Solution - cut squares of Ricky's stable stuff the size of the centre &the first round of triangles, stick the made up centres onto them and then add the outside triangles using the stable stuff as the sewing guide for size. I didn't want to cut the stable stuff to the full size of the unit because I would have only got 2 squares per page, whereas doing it for the smaller size I was able to get 6 squares per page. Hope it doesn't cause too much trouble down the way

Any way here are my November pieces, pinned together and put up with the centre, so I don't lose them

Luann,
I love your stars! The colors are wonderful. I really like those saturated bold colors.

Are you talking about the Easy Angle and Companion Angle? I have had both for many years and love them. So simple, accurate and no funny measurements to cut. 7/8" stuff. Sharon Hultgren designed the Easy Angle and I had a class with her back in the early 90's. Such fun.

I am totally stuck on a quilt to make for my newest grandson. I even started one and it's awful. I hate it! Thankfully not much fabric is involved. I'm hoping for some inspiration to hit me upside the head. Wish me luck!

Terrie, interesting comment from the designer. Nothing like a common enemy to bind us together! We will not be taken down!

Have a great weekend everyone, geneva
