Thank You, Ladies.

Luann, the Lizards were a surprise from Terrie who organizes the Lounge Lizards to make Lizardy Surprises for my birthday which she then presented to me army unbirthday party this summer
They are all shown under the topic Lizards for Lotti..
We then went on to make some lighthouses for Lorchen - also shown on page 13 or 14 of the Lizards topic
I'll try to post link:

Lotti,
Love your color choices!
And those lizards are very intriguing. Is there are thread that pictures were posted to? I'm thinking there are several different techniques used and I'm just up for some eye candy.

May God bless you with rich memories of this day,
Luann

Judy, I think your quilt looks like marble tiles from Italy, with a hint of jade. Really pretty.

Luann, I love your description of how to chose fabrics by the party approach - I must remember to copy it down to keep.

Judy,
I like your colors, I think we are all too critical when we start seeing all the other possibilities we could have made.
One of my friends asked how I decided on the colors on my Mystery quilt. I used my 'party approach'. We would use this to help customers in the quilt shop.
First you pick the fabric that's giving the party. This usually has a pattern or print and generally is more than one color. But neither of those are mandatory. Then the hostess starts inviting friends and family members to her party. When all invitees are placed in one area, you'll know which ones to invite to some other party, they just stick out and are going to argue with too many other guests. If you're doing this from your stash it's a lot easier, cuz you usually buy compatible fabrics. It's part of our nature to keep things calm, at least calm to ourself!
It was my favorite part of the job. And so many people can do this but aren't confident enough. I'd just encourage them to pull lots of possibilities and to wait for the final decisions until we had plenty to choose from.

LuAnn,
Love your quilt. The gold actually enhances it and looks planned.

I am caught up on mine but not loving the colors. Oh well, Its what I have. It has been fun so far. Thanks Terri for getting us going.

Terrie,
I'm really hoping that my cutting and piecing are more consistent with the directions. I can trim what I have this far to the measurements it should be. I'm going to wait because that red is raveling and I have plenty to keep busy with until our next clue comes out.

I love it, Luann.

I've heard of something called 'floating borders' and they were on a BOM on here at TQS a few years ago. Basically, I think you get your pieced blocks all together and then measure to make your border fit the blocks. I'll bet there's a U Tube on floating borders somewhere. But then...what about later on?

I haven't done mine yet.

Looks good to me Luann. As I recall from my first Bom with Sue Garman, she uses these strip borders precisely to make sure that the pieced borders fit, and she had good advice on how to get them to fit between the sections too.
