Yes, We want you to post a profile photos. The blank purple face with red hair doesn't do you justice. Remember, it doesn't HAVE to be a photo of you. It could be your dog or cat or favorite quilt. Of course, we'd love to see your smiling faces so we can recognize you at quilt shows, but some folks are shy, and we understand.  If you have a profile pic, maybe it's time to just update your profile.

It's very easy to do,

  • Simply highlight MY ACCOUNT in the navigation bar at the top of the screen.
  • Scroll down to MY PROFILE.
  • Click on Upload Profile Image.  It will ask you to choose a file from your computer.  Select a file with your beautiful face.
  • Cllick Upload Photo.

That's it!

While you are at it, why not enter some information about yourself into the profile as well.  Just click on the boxes that pertain to you and then click SUBMIT.

As an incentive, TQS is going to give away 4 TQS SUPER GOODIE BAGS to 4 randomly selected people who have a profile photo on the site by March 15, 2011!  Woo Hoo! If you already have a profile pic, you are eligible to win one of the prizes.

Have you always wondered how you get clean up your stash, your UFOs, and your extra supplies, while helping someone in need?  Here is your opportunity.

In May 2011, a second iteration of IB♥L3D (Iraqi Bundles of Love) will be under way.  Managed by Art La Flamme, IB♥L3D is a program designed to get supplies where they are needed in Iraq.3564_iraqi_bundles_of_love.jpg

What do they need?  They need fabric, sewing supplies, UFOs, basically any type of raw sewing materials that can be used to make something by hand or machine.

Simple fabric is good.  Stripes work, too.  Scissors are OK.  Ditto for needles -- yes, knitting needles, too.  Fabric is far more likely to be used for clothing than for quilting, but that's not an absolute.  To see more details about what to send, click here.

Basically a bundle consists of a large, flat rate to APO box (they cost $12.50) filled with fabrics and supplies.  There is a specific way to pack the box, click here for details

To participate in the program, you'll need to go to the Iraqi Bundles of Love website and leave a comment, click here to go to the website

Here is the FAQ and the Facebook page. And if you enjoy Kitteh, click here.

This amazing quilt has delicate applique, elaborate quilting (with trapunto), beautiful colors and and interesting subject matter; unfortunately all we know of the maker are the initials "AY."  It was created in 1937, possibly from a pattern.  It is made up of cottons and hand appliqued and hand pieced.

Here is Part 1 of America Collects Quilts direct from the Houston International Quilt Festival. There were so many quilts, we had to break the video into two parts They come from the collection of Cindy Rennels and represent a private collection of antique patriotic quilts.  These are examples of Americana you might not find anywhere else.

Ahoy mates! Yo Ho Ho and Blow Me Down! As you can see above, Alex has a Pirate's head eraser on the end of her pencil. Alex is well-known for loving pirates (but in reality, she loves Johnny Depp). I think she likes the 'good' pirates - if there are any.

By random selection, TQS member Nepeanquilter gets an autographed copy of my Rhaposdy book. Congratulations go out to our TQS Canadian quilter! It didn't matter if you guessed the right answer or not - just by making a comment you were eligible. Remember it pays to play on TQS!!

Once in a blue moon I'm able to create a small project to be auctioned off. I have a great affection for the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum located in Golden, Colorado. Next month they will be holding an annual fund raiser that includes auction items. I made Wahatoya and Fence specifically for that auction. The museum will be taking remote, call-in bids prior to the live auction. This means YOU have a chance to add this quilt to your collection even if you can't attend the museum event.

Wahatoya, the name of our two mountains (also called The Spanish Peaks) means "breasts of the earth". These are the two mountains that greet me each morning from my front door. I made this quilt from hand-dyed fabrics and machine quilted it.

How to Bid

Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum will be taking call-in bids on Ricky’s Wahotoya and Fence quilt (12” x 15.5”) valued at $1100.

Call-in bidding begins on Monday, March 7 and will continue thru March 10, 2011 during the hours of 10:00 am to 4:00 pm MST. Call-in number is 303-215-9001, please have your credit card information ready for your call-in bid. Please note, having the highest bid at the end of day on Thursday does not guarantee you are the winner.

The auction will continue on Saturday at the RMQM Fabric and Friends event giving attendees a chance to bid on the quilt.

The ending bid on Thursday is the starting bid on Saturday for the live auction.  We strongly urge call-in bidders to place their maximum bid when calling in.  If you are the highest bidder on Thursday evening and have given RMQM a maximum bid, we will designate an individual to bid on your behalf up to your maximum bid amount at the Fabric and Friends Live Auction.  (Maximum bid information will not be shared with other callers.)

Call-in bidders will be asked to provide the following information:  Name, address, phone and email address and credit card information.  If the winner of Ricky’s quilt was a call-in bidder their credit card will be charged the final bid amount.  Following payment, quilt may be picked up at RMQM office located at 910 13th Street, Suite 300, Golden, CO  80401 or RMQM will happily ship to any winner (shipping charges apply).

RMQM is thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to anyone wishing to OWN one of Ricky’s wonderful quilts!
