The Latest News on Libby:
The latest is good and bad news. The doctor found some response on Libby's left side. However, there is blood leaking somewhere and they are keeping her sedated until they can find it.
While her recovery may take some time, we would like to share two TQS episodes that present Libby at her best. From now through Sunday, May 12, everyone (Basic and Star members) may watch both Episode 112 and the "Libby Legend" Show (Episode 513) FREE.
The "stars are out" at the Nine Quarter Circle Ranch in Gallatin Gateway, MT, as Alex demos some clever - and easy - variations on the traditional Sawtooth Star block, and Ricky shows how to piece his Lone-Star-based Montana Star. (Cutting directions for the Montana Star will be available on the TQS website.)
This "stellar" show also features a visit to Valentine, NE, where Florentine Blue Thunder shares his amazing Lakota Star quilts and Vi Colombe (from the Rosebud Reservation in Mission, SD) shows us her stunning Circular Stars. Can't get more star-studded than that!
If you are in the neighborhood, stop by Alden Lane Nursery in Livermore, CA to see a special exhibit of the Quilts of Valor to honor U.S. veterans at the Mom & Apple Pie Event. The Valley Veterans foundation will be selling apple pie to raise funds for equipment for local disabled veterans. All Military Mom's with ID will receive a free slice of apple pie!
And, two more Quilts of Valor will be presented.
Alden Lane Nursery, 981 Alden Lane, Livermore CA - May 11-12 - 10am - 4pm
Straight from AQS Paducah is the beautiful Enchanted Garden by Molly Culp of Waco, TX. Molly's work is no stranger to Paducah as her 2011 Entry, Autumn Serenade was winner of the APQS Longarm Machine Quilting Award. Enchanted Garden certainly demonstrates her artistry in both machine quilting and applique.

Saturday was a "good" day for Libby in the fact that the swelling of her brain was reduced and she was more stable.
The not so good news is that, while she is in a sedated comatose state, they doctors were able to determine that the stroke on Friday was "massive" and that her left side is paralyzed. Libby is left-handed.
They say her vital signs are good but she remains on a feeding and breathing tube. They are slowly reducing the sedatives do that she can hopefully awaken in the next few days.
She is far from "out of the woods" and remains in "critical" condition with nurses monitoring her around the clock.
There an be no predictions for her recovery or her quality of life after lengthy therapy. Lester (husband), Les (son), and her sisters are "devastated" but doing their best to remain strong. You thoughts and prayer for them too are appreciated.
This week's puzzle is Enchanted Garden from Cathleen Miller of Albuquerque, NM. Cathleen's quilt took Second place, Bed Quilts - Hand Quilted at 2013 AQS QuiltWeek in Lancaster. It is another stunning mix of applique and quilting.

As we mentioned before, Alex was lucky enough to have two quilt shows in her neighborhood recently. This time we are going to share the work of the Amador Valley Quilters in Pleasanton, CA. Quilted Treasures XV - Quitls from the Heart had Alex as their special guest and included a special exhibit of Quilts of Valor quilts.
