A new Executive Director has been announced for the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. Jeannette Pilak will be replacing current ED Ann Richardson who announced her intention last fall to step down from the position following the 2013 Show.  If you are in the area this summer, this is a show you'll want to attend and if you get a chance, bid a fond farewll to Ann who has run the show for the last 11 years.

Last week, we shared a fun stash-buster project for Mom. This week, we've found another great idea for making a dent in your stash of scraps. While this project from Crazy Mom Quilts does take a bit longer, we think it's a super-cute idea and another way to add a bit of color to your decor... as a cheerful summertime tablecloth, perhaps?

Libby continues to improve - slowly, but surely. She is expected to transfer soon to another hospital where her rehabilitation can begin. Each day she seems more alert and it is evident that she is making progress.

As we inch toward the start of a new season, it seems that not just the birds are busy with bits of fabric, yarn, and thread. You might want to check out these two exciting fiber events if you're lucky enough to live (or travel) nearby. Both are coming soon.

1. The Textile Museum of Canada, located in Toronto, is holding its annual More Than Just a Yardage Sale on Friday, May 24, from 11am - 6pm and Saturday, May 25, from 10am - 1 pm.

For two days, bargain-hunting fiber addicts will descend on the TMC for the annual More Than Just A Yardage Sale. Created and run by the Museum’s volunteers, the sale is a bonanza for textile aficionados and a major fundraiser for the Museum. Shoppers will have their pick of an eclectic mix that includes yardages, yarns, patterns, quilt fabrics, notions, and crafts.

2. The facade of the Craft & Folk Art Museum (CAFAM in Los Angeles, CA) will be covered in 12,000 crocheted granny squares by the knit graffiti collective, Yarn Bombing Los Angeles (YBLA), for a public art display called CAFAM Granny Squared. This ground- breaking, temporary, public art installation on LA's Museum Row will be on view from May 25 through July 1.

CAFAM Granny Squared is a community-based project that anyone can contribute to, and that anyone passing by can enjoy. The project is designed to bring together a community of artists and crafters who otherwise might not have had access to exhibit their work in a museum. So far, over 500 crafters from 50 states and 25 countries have joined to crochet 12,000 five-inch granny squares. See some of the work in progress here.

Sweet Memories by Dominique Ehrmann from Quebec, will fill you with delight as explore all the little nooks and crannies that make up this "sweet treat" of a quilt direct from AQS Quilt Week in Paducah.

The quilt is Dominique's idea of a whimsical chocolate cake factory.  She calls the center block "extreme trapunto."  She quilted it on her home sewing machine.  The border is paper pieced.

Sweet Memories won Viewer's Choice at the Vermont Quilt Festival in 2012.

Have you ever heard of a low-volume quilt? Usually it means a quilt with really soft color or tint, pale, faded, or made from neutrals.

Take a look at this bag from Pretty by Hand and you'll get the idea.

Have you ever made a low-volume quilt?

The AIM (Adventures in Maintenance) girls are at it again! This month we are tackling the topic of regaining weight after a large weight loss–IS IT INEVITABLE???

We all have heard the statistics--95 percent of those who have lost weight will regain that weight. But what about those who have lost a large amount of weight--oh, let's say one hundred pounds--and then regain a portion of that weight. Is that inevitable?

There is not a lot written about this. All I can tell you about is my own experience. If you'd  like to read the whole article, click on the button:
