To learn how she creates some of her pieces, watch Special Effects with Color in Christine's classroom. In her class, Christine demystifies color and shows you how to choose and combine fabrics—“magic fabrics”—to create special effects, such as luminosity, transparency, luster, and opalescence.

Get acquainted with the basics (they are the building blocks of color) and put the concepts into practice with ten easy color studies. See how “the color makes the quilt” in a number of same-design, different-colorway examples.

You can also learn more about Christine in Episode 1407: The "New" Traditional: A Marvelous Mix of Fabric, Style, and Stitches.

With this sample, you'll practice your invisible machine-applique work following Kim's Penny Circle directions (in Episode 1407). If you like, you can add a bit of punch with an outline of 'big stitch' embroidery.

Don't forget to post your work in the Show and Tell area. We're seeing some great pieces being created as a result of this series!

Ricky is back from Dubai and is sharing the winning quilts from the International Quilt Show.

Please enjoy it in magazine or Smilebox format. The magazine requires great broadband because the pictures can be zoomed in. Also the magazine works best with Chrome or Firefox. We have had some problems with Internet Explorer.

These gowns are breathtaking, as well as the corsets (fainting couches were invented for a reason.)

Superior Threads puts a lot of effort into the creation of their MasterPiece Prewound bobbins to ensure the highest level of quality. Take a look and see how it's done. (...did you know that a prewound bobbin can hold up to more than 50% more thread than a bobbin you wind yourself?)
