TQS Member Denise Lareau has finished her half-size 2015 BOM, "My Country House."  She made it smaller because she didn't want another big quilt.  For an idea of the scale, take a look at the scissors in the bottom right corner.

Denise writes,

"My math skills leave a lot to be desired. So making 9-patches that finish at 4 1/2" was a challenge to me. Thankfully, Andree Bergeron was very nice and figured it all out. We just had to follow her lead."

One of the fabulous prizes that you could win during International Quilting Weekend, March 18 - 20 is a BERNINA 570 QE Sewing Machine!

The B 570 QE is a genuine all-rounder that can sew, quilt and embroider. The touchscreen makes changing from sewing to embroidery mode a breeze. There are 50 embroidery designs to choose from, and you can upload your own embroidery designs via a USB connection. The designs can be edited right on the touchscreen with the Rotate, Mirror, Rescale, and Color Change functions.

A variety of special accessories and presser feet are included with the machine, as well as the BERNINA Stitch Regulator (BSR), which is designed to help you master free-motion techniques by keeping stitches consistent at variable sewing speeds.

It also comes with a Free Hand System (FHS) that raises and lowers the presser foot while releasing thread tension and lowering the feed dogs, leaving your hands free to guide your project.

The B570 QE now comes with more memory options and an extensive stitch library of up to 642 utility and decorative stitches.

Debby Schnabel (Show 1512) had a bad experience with some commercial hand-dyed Perle Cotton thread running. It was on a series of quilts that featured embroidered writing. She was so upset about the dye running, she blogged about it and someone online led her to Vicki's tips.

In 1999, a small group of women gathered together with a vision of a "new" type of quilt exhibit. Thus began Sacred Threads, a dignified exhibit of artwork that could touch all those who viewed it on both spiritual and personal levels.

This documentary tells the story of Sacred Threads. We hear from the founder, current committee and the artists, view the artwork, and hear their stories. Watch the Sacred Threads journey and be inspired.
