Australia, as the world knows, is being ravaged by terrible fires and the loss of wildlife has been extensive. They need help to save the injured animals. Around the world people have swung into action and have been sewing and making mittens, pouches and many other wonderful items for the animals, but they also need food and medical supplies which have to be paid for.

Lynette Anderson, the designer of the TQS BOM 2015 - My Country House, is donating all the proceeds from the sale of her PDF pattern, Noah’s Ark, to WIRES who will distribute the funds to the effected locations. Fundraising will continue through the end of January.

Star Members can watch Lynette in Show 1601 where she shares her quilts, techniques, tools, travels and tricks. Her whimsical quilts come with humorous stories about her life, pets (including a shaggy dog story), and family.

It's hard to tell how great a fabric is online. So we had our staff tell us which fabrics they lusted after seeing them in person on our shelves. Here are their choices.

Alex

"I always push quilters to get the lights that add so much to quilts. The Moondust fabric bundle fills that need. These fabrics add highlights to any quilt but hidden inside are metallics that are hard to see online but that make them even more fun."

Kristin

"These fabrics are not prints but truly beautiful wovens. They are handy for all types of sewing projects and quilts."    (And over $10 off)

Brandie

"A wonderful assortment of reds and blacks that at the discounted price are only $6.57!".      (These will go fast. Don't wait.)

Heather Pregger won First Place, Abstract, Large at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2019 with her abstract version of a tiger's eye gemstone. In Tiger's Eye (50" x 72.5") she used strips of fabric to take her design to the "microscopic" level.

Heather's statement: "Tiger's Eye is a popular and attractive gemstone, usually metamorphic, composed of quartz in a finely fibrous form. Under the microscope, you can see the finely textured quartz and altered amphibole fibers."

Tiger's Eye is available for sale on her website, click here.
