TQS Editor, Mary Kay Davis, made this loving tribute to Alex's hairstyles through the years.  Be kind, your hairstylist wasn't always on her game either!

PIQF postcardThe Pacific International Quilt Festival is just around the corner and TheQuiltShow.com will have an intrepid reporter at the show. PIQF is always an amazing show and a lot of fun.  The quilts and vendors are great and there is a lot of parking.

If our reporter can identify you as a quilt show member, because you are wearing a pin, badge, sandwich board, etc., showing you are a member, she'll snap your photo for the PIQF blog.  If a group of you are getting together at the show, leave a comment and she'll try and seek out your group.  If you have a quilt in the show, leave a comment, and she'll seek out your quilt.  We look forward to seeing  you there.

It has been a long time since I have done both market and festival - It is almost sensory overload!  I can guarantee you that EVERYONE who is going to market (School House starts Friday) is in panic mode right now. I have two aspects of packing going on here - first my clothes (once a girl always a girl) then my "Market Stuff" - I have many new products coming out and they all need to be celebrated in proper fashion. With C&T Publishing, three new books and the 4 in 1 tool (still sorting out that situation - quality control issues), then a new line with P&B, Elizabeth Anne (named my daughter Adair), a new pattern with JWD called Honey Bears and then of course The Quilt Life with AQS...and that is just market! Thank goodness I love this industry so much, or I might start crying - tears of joy, of course. Oh yes, and if you are coming to festival, Quilts Inc. is putting on a special exhibit of quilts by the 15 Silver Star recipients. I have two quilts in, one everyone will be familiar with, but the other is Joey and Shelly's wedding quilt. Only a few people have seen it. I can see a light at the end of the tunnel - I need to eat lunch.....

The Secret Is Out–AQS Introduces a New Magazine—
The Quilt Life with Ricky Tims & Alex Anderson

2173_quiltlife_cov72rgb_1.jpgPaducah, Kentucky – October 5, 2009: The American Quilter’s Society is proud to announce the creation of a new magazine with Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson. The Quilt Life is scheduled to premiere in April 2010 with six issues per year.

2173_rickytims72rgb_1.jpgAccording to Ricky Tims, if you are someone who understands that quilting is a way of life, “you’ll find our new magazine, The Quilt Life, has been created with you in mind.”

Issue one of The Quilt Life will focus on inspiration and how it compels a quilter to start a new project. You will find articles from quilt artists who reveal the sources of their inspiration and share the techniques and patterns they use to create works of art. Popular quilter/teacher/author/judge Libby Lehman will write a regular column featuring tips and entertaining stories about her quilt life.

As editor-in-chief, Jan Magee is proud to be “working with the cream of the quilting industry crop–Ricky, Alex, and AQS!”

Join Ricky, Alex, Jan and AQS in this new adventure and celebrate living The Quilt Life. Take a look at the special preview and see why you won’t want to miss becoming a charter subscriber. (Read more…)

2173_alexanderson72rgb_1.jpg“It’s about inspiration, creativity, community, charity, and so much more,” explains Alex Anderson. “When the American Quilter’s Society invited Ricky and me to create a brand new magazine, the spin was easy. Welcome to the pages of The Quilt Life, where quilting is more than making a quilt. Let our creative lifestyle continue…together.”

The current show has some great gift ideas, but now we need ideas from you.  Throughout the next week we will ask for good gift ideas for different people on your list.  Today we want to know what to give adult males in the family.  Sure they would love a new Ferrari, but let's keep the ideas under $100.

Tell us your suggestion by submitting a comment.  Help, we need your ideas.
