OK, so you know that Alex and Ricky are away in California taping Series 7.  Whoo Hoo!  So while Ricky is behind the camera today, why don't we send him our best wishes.

Paducah logoHave you ever gone out of your way to get to a Quilt Show (and I don't mean Alex and Ricky's)?

What's the farthest you've ever travelled to visit a quilt show and why did you doTokyo quilt show it?  Was it near your relatives? Was there a particular class you wanted to take or artist you wanted to visit?  What was the show?  What did you see and was it worth going the distance?

Submit a comment and let's travel the world.

UFOsHere is a question almost all of us can relate to (except those few of you who finish your project, before you start the next one...that actually might be a great question in itself; how many of you are there?).

Anyway, back to the original question; How many UFOs (unfinished objects, quilts, projects, hooked rugs, needlepoints, etc.) do you have and what do you plan to do about them?  Give them away, swap with a friend, take them apart and reuse the fabric?

Drop us a comment and share your thoughts on finishing up those projects.

Painted Ladies near Alamo Square photos by Lilo Bowman

After a trip to Chinatown a visit to see San Francisco's famous Painted Ladies was a must.  Choosing a favorite is very difficult to say the least.  Each house with its luscious color combination was more charming than the next.  An afternoon strolling through the neighborhood became a visual Easter egg hunt!  Learn more about the Painted Ladies of San Francisco here.  Tomorrow we will share with you a trip to the coastal areas of Pebble Beach and Carmel.

Thanks to all the talented TQS members who entered our recent Table Runner Contest. There were so many beautiful pieces; it was very difficult to select the winners!

Based on your nominees for the top six entries, ARJJ chose the top three winners. All three are shown here. A big round of applause goes out to the winners for their outstanding work.

Watch this space: We'll soon be sharing the patterns for the top three winners with our TQS Star members, so you can create a winning table runner of your own...and be sure to keep an eye out for our next contest, coming in May. Once again we'll be offering a monetary prize to the top three winners.

As you know TQS is in the Bay Area this week getting ready to tape our next round of shows.  While here Lilo thought she would spend some visiting a few of the sights.  The first day included a trip to San Francisco's Chinatown.  The sights and sounds were truly mind boggling.  While walking around she spotted these little ceramic pigs in several store windows.  They were so darn cute!  Each little pig had its own silk pillow.  Does anyone know the story behind these little guys?  Curious minds want to know.

Bid for a quilt and help a great cause.  The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative Small Format On-line Quilt Auction is going on now, but ends on Wednesday at 10pm Eastern time (March 10th).  There are 26 small format art quilts you can bid on in this month's "Slow and Silent Auction".  Your generous bid is appreciated by the artists who made these beautiful quilts and by everyone struggling to end this vile disease.

The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative (www.AlzQuilts.org) is a national, grassroots charity whose mission is to raise awareness and fund research. The AAQI auctions and sells donated quilts, and sponsors a nationally touring exhibit of quilts about Alzheimer's. The AAQI has raised more than $379,000 since January 2006.

Web guru, Bob, has figured out how to do Chapters on the new player.  Go to "Watch Shows" and take a look.  We will include chapters going forward and we will insert them back to Show #601 in the next 2 weeks.  Thank you for your patience.

We received a book for Christmas with this story.  I know many of you have seen this, but it was new to me.
