Festivities start on Friday night before the Sisters show on Saturday.  The whole town gets in on the action.  Then they had me working on Saturday during the Quilt Show, but since it was my first trip to Sisters I got up early to see how it all came together.

Tomorrow we will give you a stroll through the quilts.

Hello Quilt Campers.  This week's Make It Monday project is a fun and quick pillow featuring Red Rooster's "Giselle" collection; sure to be a hit with any recipient.  The bold and graphic patterns fit well with today's contemporary interiors.  As a bonus, Red Rooster has also included pattern directions for a table runner and a tote featuring the same fabric line.

Be sure to check out each week's project on our Projects page here.   Share your creative versions of any of our projects in Show and Tell here.

This week I had a student at retreat who was working on a quilt that I thought could benefit from a particular technique - a la Libby Lehman. However, she wasn't "seeing it." So, I spent some early morning time before class creating a small sample. I liked the sample enough to quilt and finish it. After seeing this, the student "got" it and loved pursuing her project in a similar manner.

Sometimes doing something small and quick can be a real shot in the "creative" arm. There's a couple of technical things I wish were different, but the fact is - I had fun - and I like it. I'm open to a better title if you have suggestions.

Do you ever side step from a big project just to do something small and fun - to break the monotony? If not, maybe today is a good day to do just that!

In 2001, Donna Sue Groves had a vision. She wished to honor her mother, Maxine, and her Appalachian heritage by having a painted quilt hung on her barn. This vision grew to a trail of 20 quilt barns in Adams County, Ohio.

Today barn quilts and trails have sprung up all across North America and on May 13-14, 2011, the barn quilt movement will be celebrating it's 10th Anniversary in Adams, CO. Donna Sue will be hosting a party, so save the date!

It's been a two weeks since the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show and TQS thought you might need a little outdoor quilt show refreshment. There are many different exhibits every year at the show and this particular exhibit featured the quilts of Joanne Myers. Joanne is an institution in the Central Oregon quilting community and was selected as the Inspirational Instructor for the show. Joanne isn't afraid to tackle anything and you'll see that in her amazing range of quilt styles. The exhibit was sponsored by C&T Publishing Co.

Jaw-dropping, mouth-watering, even mind-blowing, might describe the digital imagery in the quilts of Lura Schwarz Smith and husband Kerby. This award-winning team is sharing images of over 35 quilts with TQS. They are something to behold, so make sure you are watching on the "big screen." To learn how they create their images, watch Show 702: Quilting in the Digital Age.

Jelly RollstrufflesTime for a little bit fun, TQS wonders,  "Why are the latest trends in fabric cuts named after food?" There are jelly rolls, turnovers, layer cakes...and honey buns. Is it any wonder that we have fat quarters? Personally, TQS was more than happy with "charm" packs. There was something magical about that.  What's next?  Bon bons, lady fingers, truffles? Does anyone know how or why this phenomenon began? Submit a comment and share your knowledge. And tell us, "What do you think they'll come up with next?"
