Hi TQS fans,

It’s Hope Yoder. I travel a LOT for guest appearances, hands-on sewing schools and embroidery events. This video was made while I was in Grand Junction, CO for a guest appearance from Hi Fashion Sewing Machines. Please enjoy some great tips from my friend Heather Lofstrom, Event Specialist from BERNINA USA.

Until next time, happy crafting! Hope Yoder.

Here's where you can find Hope:

It’s a tote, it’s a backpack, it’s either and both! The secret is in the placement of the straps. Stitch up this gem in a jiffy and you’re ready for any occasion. Diane Doran has a great tutorial to help you get the job done.

When we were researching Kathryn Zimmerman's quilt "Dogwood Winter" that was featured on Friday (click here), we saw that she won "Best of Show" at the North Carolina Quilt Symposium in May 2015. This quilt "Autumn Journey at White Oak caught our eye because it was her version of our TQS Block of the Month 2011 by Sue Garman called "Ruffled Roses". We have told you that the TQS Block of the Month's have won many prizes and this is a great example. She took the quilt and made it her own with rich orange-red ruched roses. (Don't you love the sound of the last sentence? Say it 5 times slowly "rich....orange-red....ruched roses...."). The quilting is by Brian Fackler and is amazing. Take a look.

12 Kits Left...(an award waiting for you?)

You can still create Sue Garman's last Block of the Month for TQS "Halo Medallion". The instructions & patterns are all ready for instant download (value $90) are free to Star members (cost $49/yr). We thought we were sold out but found 2 mismarked boxes of the Halo Medallion kits using Island Batik fabrics. The price was lowered to sell the last few at $178.50 rather than the original $287. We will hold the price for these last 12. Want an award of your own? Get the kit, make it your own, and enter it in your guild's next contest. Remember, you have to be or become a Star member to get the patterns (still a great deal).

Carolyn used some of Alex's red and white fabrics to create this quilt, which was based on a  BOM from her local quilt show.

The city of Philadelphia has more than 4000 murals because of a program originally created to cover and prevent graffiti. Anthony Mason of CBS Sunday Morning reports on how splashing some color on city walls has lifted the spirits of the community.

Take a look around 5:30 to see the mural, Holding Grandmother's Quilt, by Don Gensler. To learn more about this mural and see pictures, click here.

Kathryn Zimmerman's Dogwood Winter (quilted by Valerie Wagner) took 1st place at Old Man River Quilt Fest in small wallhanging category. Also, 1st place ribbon, at the Minnesota Quilters Quilt Show and 2nd Place at Spring Paducah. Kathryn says the quilt was "Originally designed for a quilt competition in which I misinterpreted the theme from "Two Fabrics" to Two Colors. Dogwood Winter reminds me of the blueish colors of the Appalachian Mountains on a cold frosty morning in May when the dogwoods are in bloom."

The quilt starts with a Feathered Star from a pattern by Marsha McCloskey and uses techniques including Fused Appliqué, Machine Appliqué, Couching, Dimensional Work, Embellishment, Free-Motion Quilting, Machine Piecing, Piped Edging, and it is Ruched. All this on a quilt that is just 50" x 50".

You won't find any red and white in this beautiful quilt from Linda Pumphrey. Linda "modernized" a Mountain Mist pattern and made it her own.

You'll love this lively, cheerful, and funky oversized mug because it holds plenty of whatever beverage you choose to drink while you work (we don't judge!) and is covered with colorful hashtags of quilty phrases to keep your quilting and social media juices flowing. Designed and printed in the USA, it is also dishwasher and microwave safe.

When these arrived in-store for the first time they sold out instantly! We just received a new shipment of them, so if you missed them the first time, now is your chance to get one (or two or three... they make great gifts!).
