Hi TQS fans,

It’s Hope Yoder. I travel a LOT for guest appearances, hands-on sewing schools and embroidery events. This video was made while I was in Grand Junction, CO for a guest appearance from Hi Fashion Sewing Machines. Please enjoy some great tips from my friend Heather Lofstrom, Event Specialist from BERNINA USA.

Until next time, happy crafting! Hope Yoder.

Here's where you can find Hope:

Hi Karen, Glad her demo helped. She is wonderful and I was so thankful we were in the same spot so she could give me tips and by recording them, I won’t forget when I have time to sit and play.

Hi Max, It’s a Bernina Q20 sit down machine that can also be put on a frame with handles.

I don't have this machine, although I will say I have looked at possibly purchasing one. But I do have the original Bernina quilting frame and software that I have used in the past with my Bernina. Although I no longer use it for anything but basting large quilts.

The information here was interesting, and having more basting stitches and BSR settings than the 880QE is appealing.
As for basting, you can also use water soluble thread (if the quilt will be one you will wash, or that water won't damage) to baste with, and then the basting comes out in the first wash. I find it much easier than having to go back and snip and pull the threads, which also sometimes get caught by the quilting.

Wow, I think these hints will take care of several small issues I have been running into. I may have accidentally changed the BSR mode at times and this is the problem. Love my ruler work now especially on large quilts. Knowing which BSR mode to have is an awesome hint!!! Thanks. I love my Q20 and would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Hi Hope! I loved this demo! Even though I don't have a Bernina at this point in time, (retirement will be here shortly though), I will check my manual for my Sweet 16, to see if I have the same type of basting options. I don't use a stitch regulator, but I have used rulers which I really enjoyed using.

Hi Rebecca, Thanks for posting. I love learning new things and hope my journey helps with tips for others along the way. We all have so much to share with each other and I’m learning from others and it’s just fun!

Looks great but what’s the name of the machine?

Finding this very helpful even though I don't have this particular machine. I do have a newer Bernina and while I am not new to quilting, I am new to doing more machine quilting. Hope's series will be great because she is asking questions from the perspective of someone new. Thank you for sharing these!
