Bethanne Nemesh used post quilting insertion and gradation scallops in her quilt, Song of Summer. Have you heard of these techniques? They produced quite stunning results in her hand-dyed saffron wholecloth quilt which won 2nd place Merit Quilting, Machine - Frame at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2019.

Inspired by a 19th Century stenciled ceiling in Sussex England, Mariya Waters wanted to make a Christmas quilt representing Australia's Christmas...no snowflakes and crystals...but stunning appliqué flowers and over the top quilting by Gina Perkes-Tidwell. Mariya wanted to celebrate her garden in full bloom over the holiday season. A Summer Christmas was begun in 2006 and completed in 2019.

A Summer Christmas by Mariya Waters and Gina Perkes-Tidwell was on display as part of the Appliqué Large exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in Houston 2019.

We just returned from showing the Grandchildren "Deacon Dave's" famous Christmas display here in Livermore, California. Here are just a few example pictures. (There is even a waterfall). You have to understand that this is just a normal suburban tract home that has become this amazing event. Lights fill the trees, displays, workshops, bridges, and waterfalls are installed. The house windows have still and moving scenes. Here is a sample. (You can learn more at casadelpomba.com.)
