Inspired by a 19th Century stenciled ceiling in Sussex England, Mariya Waters wanted to make a Christmas quilt representing Australia's Christmas...no snowflakes and crystals...but stunning appliqué flowers and over the top quilting by Gina Perkes-Tidwell. Mariya wanted to celebrate her garden in full bloom over the holiday season. A Summer Christmas was begun in 2006 and completed in 2019.

A Summer Christmas by Mariya Waters and Gina Perkes-Tidwell was on display as part of the Appliqué Large exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in Houston 2019.

Gorgeous quilt! And in agreement with everyone about the snowy Christmas - I'm in the southeastern United States and we are often wearing shorts for Christmas...Thi s looks like my Christmas :).

Can't help but love the color choice and design element of the quilt. The quilting itself is out of this world

Absolutely stunning. I have to say that the Southern United States quite frequently experiences warm Christmases. So I love not having all the snow motif. Exquisite workmanship and design. Glad you both kept at it.
