When Cindy Seitz-Krug created Alternative Grids she had two goals in mind: "To use a block pattern with large enough pieces to display my pretty polka-dot fabrics" and for the quilt to have "enough negative space in each block to exhibit the many grid-based quilting designs from my book and my weekly YouTube tutorials." She accomplished both as her quilt won Best Use of Negative Space Modern at PIQF 2019. With beautiful machine piecing and machine appliqué, Cindy has created a wonderful pattern that ebbs and flows throughout the quilt while still tying the whole thing together.

Alternative Grids by Cindy Seitz-Krug of Overgaard, Arizona won Best Use of Negative Space Modern at the Pacific International Quilt Festival (PIQF) 2019.

This is so beautiful and I love all of the different quilting.
Did she change thread color many times to match the petals? Can't zoom in quite enough to see that detail.

the variations on the basket weave are encouraging.

There are so many neat quilting motifs used on this quilt. You could spend a long time studying them. I like how they all flow together. The colors are also great!

I too love polka dots. But it is the phenomenal quilting that takes my breath away. Beautiful
