To pay tribute to one of Hawaii's native birds, the I'iwi, Phyllis Cullen used four of her favorite techniques. We Three I'iwi features "free fabric collaged birds, painted tree branches, sun printed background and free motion quilted on the longarm." Winning Best Use Of Color - Innovative in the Quilt Competition at PIQF 2019, Phyllis' work was brought to life because to her "there is no greater pleasure than painting with fabric and thread."

We Three I'iwi by Phyllis Cullen of Hilo, Hawaii won Best Use Of Color - Innovative in the Quilt Competition at the Pacific International Quilt Festival (PIQF) 2019.

AMAZING!! Beautiful interpretation in fabric of birdlife! I just learned about Phyllis and her work a few months ago when Googling for fabric collage instruction. I am fortunate I made it into her upcoming online class with Road to California!
