The pride of Kyoko Oura's hometown is Sankyoson, "where old Japanese-style houses are sparsely located in the countryside." The houses are "illuminated by the golden sunset," which Kyoko beautifully represented in her quilt, Sunset in a Japanese Rural Landscape. You can see the magnificent machine piecing and appliquépainting, and free-motion quilting as the sun sets for miles.

Sunset in a Japanese Rural Landscape by Kyoko Oura of Nanto, Toyama, Japan was featured in the Art-Naturescapes category at Houston 2017.

It is stunning. Landscape/seasc ape quilts some times are better represented in other mediums. Not this one. Masterful.

Truly beautiful quilt. I love the soft colors and the details. The images remind me of viewing the moon on a warm summer night across the river where my family vacationed when I was a teenager. Lovely!

Beautiful! This quilt is so peaceful. I love all of the little surprises she uses with her surface designs.
