The pride of Kyoko Oura's hometown is Sankyoson, "where old Japanese-style houses are sparsely located in the countryside." The houses are "illuminated by the golden sunset," which Kyoko beautifully represented in her quilt, Sunset in a Japanese Rural Landscape. You can see the magnificent machine piecing and appliqué, painting, and free-motion quilting as the sun sets for miles.
