Christine Copenhaver discovered something about herself while working on this beautiful silk appliquéd quilt, Pink Acorns, that she created in the quilt-as-you-go style. What do you suppose it was? Read the sign below to find out.

Pink Acorns by Christine Copenhaver of Boulder, Colorado was featured in the Appliqué, Small category at Houston 2019.

The quilt is lovely, but why not tell the size of the quilt in more exact terms, in inches or cm.

Congratulations , Christine! I love seeing that you are still re-purposing and using silk. We miss you here, but happy you have found your spot. Tennessee's lost, Colorado's gain. :-)

When I read "recycled silk garments" I thought, there's a girl I can relate to. I have a collection of silk garments waiting for the opportunity to be put into a quilt. Thank you for the inspiration. The quilt is lovely.

:-) Thanks for your comments. Note: I did not needle turn the applique (impossible with silk dupioni !!). I used an Eleanor Burns "cheat" - on each applique piece, I used a thin lining material, sewed around the design and then turned it before applying it to the background. A bit of the lining material was peeking out under the leaves, so I added some hand-embroidery stitching to hide it! Now you know my secrets! (Well, most of them)

Maybe your mind says no to applique but your fingers tell a different story. Beautifully done.

I'm trying to get brave enough to try hand applique. Yours turned out beautiful. The quilting is outstanding.
