Le Bouquet by Mayumi Ishii of Tokorozawa-shi, Saitama, Japan won Second Place, Merit Quilting, Hand, at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2019, and is a stunning floral appliqué quilt with exquisite hand quilting. We particularly like that the medallion background is a crazy quilt design with embroidery.

Beautiful workmanship and design. Many years ago I took a class with Nancy Pearson who said don't be afraid to use a plaid in applique. It adds interest. Nice to see some used in this quilt. It is a lovely quilt for us to enjoy.

Exquisite. The pattern is beautiful and truly a work of art. I can't imagine how many hours it took for all the hand work, expertly done. Just looking at it brings a smile to my face.

The perfection of the handwork is beyond belief. The embroidery, applique and quilting is so fine, so detailed and so beautifully executed. Overall, this quilt is magnificent. Well done.
