Master quilter Jan Hutchison took home the ribbon for Best Longarm Workmanship - Traditional with her wholecloth quilt, First Frost. Inspired by the work of Willliam Morris, she freehand quilted it on a linen fabric with a metallic glaze.

First Frost won Best Longarm Workmanship - Traditional at the Pacific International Quilt Festival 2019

It's magnificent! So exquisite and it makes me want to go try my Bernina Q20 at a whole cloth...LOL

Whole cloth quilts are my favorite and this is not a typical design. Great work, Jan. You are my idol.

I saw this quilt up close at PIQF and was totally wowed by it. I entered a quilt for the first time and although I got lots of high marks and positive comments from the judges, (not ribbon worthy) it is not nearly as beautiful as this quilt. I now have something to strive for. Well, maybe not a whole cloth but I am already planning next year's quilt with the quilting in mind.
