Mari Kanayama made this beautiful quilt, Memory (Grandmother), using the kimonos of her grandmother and exquisite quilting and embroidery stitches. Mari wrote, "I made it while reflecting on the memories of my grandmother." Wouldn't we all love to be remembered with such tenderness and affection?

Mari's quilt was on display as part of the Handmade exhibit at Houston 2018.

Giuliana Nakashima Thank you for sharing this I still have a small piece of kimono silk that my grandmother was starting to stitch together before she passed away I have not been able to finish it yet but I still hold onto it and I get it out and look at it from time to time

I love this quilt, and I particularly love that the grandmother must have seen the start of the quilt.
