Reminiscence by Mariko Takeda won the Robert S. Cohan Master Award for Traditional Artistry at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2018. This is one of the "Top 8" awards and it's not difficult to understand why it won. Mariko based the design on an antique quilt that she had seen. It is hand quilted, pieced, and appliquéd.

There is both a sweet remembrance of quilts of a bygone era, and the excitement of modern practicality. The handwork is incredible. Thank you for sharing your talents

I wish I could show this to my friend, Berniece Enyeart, master quiltmaker, who did everything by hand. This quilt is incredible.

Congratulations . Beautifully designed and quilted. Such a soothing colour as well. I particularly love the floral pattern in the borders and the use of the original fabrics there too, there is plenty of eye candy for the eyes!!!

Great idea to do the bias stems and vines in checks, stripes and dots - lots of wonderful little details. 3 lifetime of work!
