In the Antique Quilts of the British Isles exhibit at Houston 2018, this quilt was on the end and grabbed everyone's attention as they entered the Quilt Display side of the Convention Hall. Take a look at the closeups. The last picture is the BACK of the quilt.

Below is the back of the quilt.

Wow! What a labor of love and determination.T he planning had to take some time as well as the execution. Think the museum made a mistake letting this one go!

After I took my ruler out and noticed that in an one-quarter inch space somehow this lady sewed five stitches - I decided this is unbelievable.

I appreciate that so many see the value of this piece in quilting history. We thank Quilts Inc and Christopher Wilson-Tate for giving us a chance to see the quilt. I am also glad that since the museum turned it down, someone who cares deeply for it has purchased it. Being in the hands of an established quilt collector allows the quilt to be cared for properly and seen.

This quilt is gorgeous. It is nobody’s business what the owner does with this quilt.

Hello I am Christopher Wilson-Tate who had the Special Exhibit of Antique Quilts of the British Isles at Houston this year, the 50 quilts in the exhibit being a small part of my private collection of 962 Quilts. This quilt is indeed a masterpiece, completed in the 1840’s and also Exhibited at the Great Exhibition in London in 1851. It is disappointing to see some of the comments here referring to the owners wishing to sell and being greedy! I purchased the quilt recently for $38,000. The quilt had been offered to the V & A Museum for a 1/3 of that, they declined. So I helped an elderly lady in need realise a much truer figure of what the quilt is worth and helped a not so good situation for her and her husband. The quilt had only ever been displayed once in 20 years by the museum. Please be careful of your commentary when doing so and knowing nothing of the actual situation. Thank you

I have handled this quilt as I work for Christopher Wilson-Tate who now owns this quilt. It is an amazing quilt - very heavy and beautiful. It wasn’t quilted.
So happy that it has been admired by so many people.

I saw this quilt at the Houston Show and is unbelievable beautiful. To think of a woman in the 1800's make this quilt by hand and ¼ hexies is amazing!!!! And with the fabrics at hand.....

For sale? Should be in the V&A or similar. Should not be on the open market.
PS not yet a Quilt. Still partially a quiXlt top,

I note the quilt is for sale and it was on loan to the V&A museum for a long time. It should still be there. This belongs in a national collection.

Is there a 1/4 inch hexie template available. I don't think one person could do this all by themselves. But it sure is a diamond to treasure forever.
