Here is a detail of The Intellect and Valour of Great Britain Intarsia Quilt made by Micahel Zumpf, which is currently on display at the International Quilt Study Center & Museum in Nebraska as part of the War and Pieced: The Annette Gero Collection of Quilts from Military Fabrics exhibit.

This is a section of the border. The center of the quilt was taken from a print of a painting where they believe that the print served as the actual pattern. The scene depicts the House of Commons in London with a host of famous politicians. It is a reproduction of a painting by Thomas-Jones Barker. Click on the See the Zoom Quilt button to see the entire quilt.

For those who know nothing about these quilts. These quilts were made by soldiers either wounded or in their waiting time during the 1800's . They are made of old uniforms which were wool. Most of the pieces are only 1/4" big. I have seen these for real and I am totally in awe.
