Introducing Hungarian Rhapsody!

INTRODUCING! HUNGARIAN RHAPSODY (60” x 60”)
Kits and Pattern!
Two Colorways • Short Term BOM • Video Tutorials!

Those who know my Rhapsody quilts know two things:
      1. These quilts are stunning show-stoppers, and…
     2. They are far easier to make than they look.

This new short-term block of the month (three months) will begin May 1, 2018. Those purchasing a kit or pattern will have free access to the video tutorials. The videos will contain the step by step instructions for the methods I use to simplify the process as well as tips for assembly that will help you make the quilt faster and more accurate than traditional methods.

Colorway 1 - Court Jester

The Court Jester colorway is based on the colors of traditional Hungarian folk wear. This variation explodes with bright and cheerful colors and is sure to please those who prefer saturated colors and luminous fabrics.

The Court Jester variation is created from Ricky Tims 100% cotton hand-dyed fabrics. The suede-like quality of these fabrics is always mesmerizing to anyone who gets up close and personal. The soft hand of these fabrics is remarkable.

Color Inspiration from Hungary

The national folk dress of Hungary features intricate, beautiful, and colorful embroidery. I took this photo in 2015 at a folk fair in Budapest. You can easily see how the this quilt was influenced by these colors.

Colorway 2 - Wizard’s Wardrobe

Wizard’s Wardrobe colorway is a tonal color option that is earthy, rich, and inviting. The subtle changes of color create a magical and mystical mood. The dusty and muted colors make this option feel like an antique tapestry that was made from plant-dyed fibers.

The Wizard’s Wardrobe variation is created from Ricky Tims 100% cotton hand-dyed fabrics. The suede-like quality of these fabrics is always mesmerizing to anyone who gets up close and personal. The soft hand of these fabrics is remarkable.

The videos for Hungarian Rhapsody will be available for a long while.

I wish everyone could feel my quilts that have Steam-a-Seam 2 (regular). My Bohemian Rhapsody is soft as a baby's bottom. No quilt is really soft until it has been immersed in water and/or washed. The process I use to finish a quilt requires that it get wet twice before it is "done". That makes all the fabrics and materials soft. I will be teaching using Steam-a-seam (there's a reason). I find Steam-a-seam 2 lite to be a bit more delicate and works great for quilts that tend to be used as art.

Hi Ricky, I notice you sell the Steam a Seam 2 on your website. Do you find it to make your quilts stiff? I am wondering if the Stream a Seam 2 Lite would make a softer quilt? Have you tried the Lite? Any thoughts? Looking forward to receiving my kit! BTW - will there be enough fabric in the kit if we decide to needle turn the edges? Thanks!

It’s beautiful. Wish you took American Express, I got all the way through my order & it gave me an error. Guess I didn’t really need it!

Will the video files be available indefinitely? If I can't get my act together will have more time to watch the videos or do they disappear at a certain time?

The video tutorial for Hungarian Rhapsody will be free to those who purchase the kit or the pattern. The email of person who orders will on the notification list when the videos roll out. It doest' matter if you are a TQS member or not, the kits/pattern are offered through Ricky Tims Inc - and promoted here on TQS. The fabrics for the kit are 100% cotton hand-dyed fabrics.

Do you need to be a current member of the quilt show to get the tutorials for this quilt ? Is the fabric in the quilt wool ?

There is always additional fabric available for those wanting to order pieces to make it bigger - but please do that by email request and not on the blog forum. Use Contact Us at the rickytims.com website - not on TQS. Also, the appliqué can be done anyway one wishes.

Mr. Tims, this gorgeous design of yours puts you into Badger Pederson territory now. This is probably the most gorgeous quilt I have seen from you in a long time. Good work Sir, very well done.

Looks intricate, but it will go together easy. Looks to me like somebody could do the applique in any method they wanted to as well. Would just have to watch how you cut the pieces out I would expect.

Hardest part will be to decide which colorway to do, because both are stunning.

Hi,

If I order the Wizard's Wardrobe and want to add to the design to make it bed size would additional fabric, in this colorway be available? Or is this quilt, when made strictly a wall quilt?

Beautiful. I am getting ready to order a kit, but I do have a question on the type of applique. Is it needle turn?

Thank you,
Brenda Hare
