Elaine Wick Poplin wanted to create an optical illusion and with Vertigo. We think she succeeded. She created four concentric circles that seem to intertwine and actually don't, but your eye sees what it wants to see.

What do your eyes tell you?

Artist Note:
"Dared by a friend, I reconstructed the 2002 Pinna illusion and made a quilt of it. Foundation paper pieced, hand-appliqued, and free-motion quilted. Permission to show the quilt graciously granted by Biangio Pinna, the original designer of the illusion."

Winner of 3rd Place Piecing at QuiltCon 2017.

Oh my goodness, this actually gave me a headache to look at. Nice work and interesting visual illusion, but I've never encountered a quilt that made me sick before. :o

OM! It's incredible. How in the world do you keep it straight (or in circles lol)? That really is something. Sewing straight lines is tough enough! Great work.

Love this-if you squint you can see that these are concentric circles!
