There are millions of quilters...there are thousands of quilt instructors...and, there are hundreds of quilt artists...but, there is only a handful of Quilting Royalty...and, that is where Freddy Moran lives her quilting life. She wasn't one of those people who had been quilting her entire life, but the artist within her must have been there all along because after the youngest of her five sons entered school, she signed up for her first quilting class. A trip to her first quilt shop provided the release that she needed. Freddy's color is Red...which she considers a neutral. You would think she would give her creativeness a rest...noooo...each year she continues to cause fireworks in the quilting world! About four years ago my DIL and I were shopping at The Stitchin' Post and found Freddy in her favorite isles of the shop, the brights! I took a photo of Em and Freddy explaining afterwards that Freddy was Quilting Royalty and her contribution to the quilting world.
While traveling I stopped at the Back Porch Fabrics in Pacific Grove and was excited to see a quilt display by Freddy Moran titled Our Lady of Guadalupe. Yes, when you think of Freddy you see red, LOL! The exhibit also introduced the latest book by Freddy and Gwen Marston!!! Now that is what I call a Royal Flush!!!
I hope you enjoy the slide show and maybe Red will become your color!
