We caught up with the curator of HERstory: A Celebration of Strong Women, Susanne M. Jones, at the Houston Quilt Festival. This exhibit celebrates the amazing things that women have accomplished since receiving the right to vote. Artists from eight countries created tributes to both well-known women and those who worked behind the scenes. Susanne tells us more about the exhibit and shares a number of the quilts. Sit back and relax, there is a lot to enjoy.

I find this a bit hypocritical, especially in view of
the fact that when, ye Americans, had a chance to put
a female president in the white house, ye blew by voting for a male chauvinist.
Back in 1960, Mrs Bandaranaike became the world's first woman prime minister. Surely,America who sees itself as the most powerful country in the world should
have had a woman president or even vice president long before the 21st century.
I'm not in any way belittling what women
have achieved but the USA having a female president
would have been the crowning glory.

THANK YOU FOR THIS INSPIRATION FOR QUILTERS AND WOMEN. REMINDS ME OF THE DAYS I MARCHED FOR EQUAL RIGHTS.

I love this exhibit and hope to see it at some time. As a long time feminist and quilter, this inspires me greatly.

What an inspiration! I can't wait to either see the exhibit at Road to California or buy the book so I can pore over every piece. Thank you so much for showing this.

Susanne Jones Thanks so much for a beautiful piece about the show. This is like an armchair ticket to the exhibit. I hope those who couldn’t attend will fix a cuppa and enjoy the show.
