It is with great sadness we publish this note from Nancy Zieman of "Sewing with Nancy." She is truly a class act. Click on Read More to read Nancy's personal note posted on the Wisconsin Public Television site.

From Nancy:

Time to Say Goodbye

There are many ways to celebrate a retirement and to say goodbye. Some might choose a gathering of close family and friends, a big party, or perhaps a quiet goodbye. I’ve decided to say goodbye to you my loyal viewers, readers, and customers with a personal note.

Nancy,
I have learned so much from your shows over the years. I not only admire your creativity, but I also admire your courteous encouraging style of teaching. Cancer is a beast who has taken many in my family. I hope the strength of our Lord will continue to offer solace at this time. God bless you and your family. Thank you for always being a “Class Act.”

Dear Nancy,

You have taught us so much about the joy and the skill of sewing, and now you've shared so much more. God bless you and your family now more than ever.
With love and gratitude,
Susan Denise Sillence

Dear Nancy, thank you for all your years of dedicated service to a vast, though perhaps somewhat unrecognized, audience, home sewists. For many years your shows were the only "community" for us lone rangers. We soaked up your teaching, always clear, dignified, and caring. Times have changed and what was once a lone voice of one crying in the wilderness of early cable has become a lead singer in an ever increasing chorus of you tube instructors.
Did you know that you are a heroine? Like the ladies of la le he and the brilliant Rachel Carlson, you have led an army of unsung Proverbs 31 women on there march to reclaim value in traditional culture.
Bravissimo, Nancy!
Your friend,
Linda Lentini

Nancy, I first caught your passion for sewing at one of your workshops in Moorhead, MN over 35 years ago. You made the entire process seem so much less daunting and so much more fun! Your gracious, kind and down to earth approach to life has impacted me as much as your amazing creativity. I pray that God will yet heal you, body and soul. Whether your physical healing happens in this world or the next, I pray that you'll enjoy the peace that passes understanding, without interruption. I will carry you in my heart always.

I know I am not alone when I thank you for so many years of you generously sharing your vast knowledge. I know when your name is attached to something I can trust it. You are a friend and a person well loved and respected to me. And, now you are choosing to continue teaching the rest of us how to face unexpected challenges with grace and care. Thank you, even though these small words do not seem sufficient.

Nancy, Thank you for all the years you've come into my living room, introduced me to new things, and encouraged me to do them, touched my life in so many ways. You are an amazing woman, a strong woman. You and your family will be in my thoughts. May you find peace.

Dear Nancy, Your heartfelt 'Goodbye' shook me when Larry Meiller of WPR read it on-air. My ties to you are 1) your PBS show & 2) having a college-friend of yours as my neighbor years ago (Mary K. - Home Ec & 4-H textiles leader from West Bend, WI. As you may know, she lost her husband to cancer years back.) I have always greatly respected you, Nancy; giving you MAJOR credit for putting yourself 'out there', fighting your battles and 'rising above' to do so. Learning of your on-going major challenges with this wretched disease, I deem you even MORE a TRUE WARRIOR, A GOD-SENT SYMBOL of TENACITY, DETERMINATION, BEAUTY & GRACE!! **OPPORTUNITY.. . While I'm NOT privy to God's Will for you, I'm SPIRITUALLY MOVED to share & offer this. Forgive any felt intrusion. DR. BRADLEY NELSON; "The Emotion Code" "The Body Code"; Energy Medicine. Google & CONTACT HIM DIRECTLY with your URGENT health prognosis!! God sends us 'KEYS' to unlock the unknown & unexplored at our 11th hour. BLESSINGS & PEACE!

It is certainly with heavy heart that I say 'Good-bye' to you too Nancy. I have learned so much from you over the years. I prayed for you when I first heart of your diagnosis a few years ago and had hoped it was gone and you were well. My prayers are for you and your family as all of you say good-bye to each other. I know you've had a wonderful life and God has richly blessed you and your family. Good-bye my friend.
