The de Young Museum in San Francisco recently featured the Summer of Love Experience: Art, Fashion, and Rock & Roll which included rock posters, photographs, textiles, and more surrounding the legendary San Francisco summer of 1967 where a colorful counterculture blossomed. In this video we highlight some of the iconic fashions of the period.

I took my 15 year old granddaughter whose mom was born that year. The fashions were my favorite part, especially seeing those by some of the artists who went on to become my teachers in the world of quilts.

I went with my 10 yr old grandson & what
fun it was telling him all about the Summer of Love. And, while viewing the fashion (my favorite part) I realized where I got my love of quilting and fabric arts. I used to make many garment like those exhibited.

Go before it's over & if you do go early. Parking fills up fast!

I got to see this exhibit in person, have lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe and walk around the Haight/Ashbury. Wish I still had the old posters. Still have lots of albums & 45's. My favorite has to be Janis with Big Brother and the Holding Company. Just finished a Summer of Love wall quilt.
