Kaffe Fassett talks about his early beginnings when he left home for England and some  "finishing." The video celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Nepenthe restaurant in Big Sur, CA which Kaffe's family has owned and operated since it opened in 1949. The history of the Nepenthe is quite interesting with ties to Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, but if you want to learn about Kaffe, he starts talking about his early creative life around 18:16, where he discusses knitting, needlepoint, and Vogue magazine.

Enjoyed the video of Nepenthe and family in the life of Kaffe Fassett. What an interesting and fascinating journey he shared. For those interested in the restaurant, here is the website: http://www.nepenthebigsur.com/
You can also look it up on Facebook. The latest photo by a diner was posted on Jan. 2017, so it's probably open by now.

Wonderful! I first became aware of Kaffe when I was a weaver and his gorgeous color craze hit. The idea that you should never be afraid to put any colors together was so eyeopening to so many of us in the 80's. Enjoy this whole look back.

Thank you for this fascinating video. 55 years ago next week my husband and I were at Nepenthe for lunch during our honeymoon to Monterey and Carmel. I wonder what the closure of HI 1 (for slide) has done to them.
