you have two layers of white fabric over the red which is on the bottom. Make sure you match up the red and white fabric to sew the seam. to Scooch is to slightly move the edge of the white fabric past the edge of the red fabric. Sew seam. and fold white over white fabric over the red. This is two layers of white fabric over the red fabric. I believe you all are saying the same thing, just differently.
"Scooch" means to move a little bit. You don't want a top layer of light fabric over one layer of dark fabric. If you "scooch" (slide/move) the top piece of light fabric just a little over the edge of the bottom dark fabric, you will have two layers of light seam allowance covering the edge of the bottom dark piece of fabric. This works especially well with paper-piecing, where you are not relying on a 1/4" seam allowance for accurate piecing. Hope this helps.
Hi Sue, You will have two layers of white fabric over the red, by 'scotching' the white fabric a bit past the red you avoid having some of the red fabric exposed underneath (without two layers of white fabric covering it). Hope that helps
