Congratulations to Cynthia England for "Reflections of Cape Town" the Best of Show Houston 2016.

Cynthia writes,

"I was fortunate to teach quilting in South Africa. While there, we took a side to and visited Cape Town. This picture was taken in a fishing village there. I loved the bright colors and the reflections were something I wanted to try to recreate in fabric. I am constantly amazed at the beautiful places where quilting takes me. This quilt took about a year to make and has approximately 8400 individual pattern pieces in it."

Have one of her books and have used some of her patterns. They come out beautiful . Want to do more as I get time.

How is this done? I can't imagine the talent and workmanship that went into this quilt! I would love to learn more.

This is absolutely stunning! You never fail to amaze me with your fantastic talent to portray these pictures using fabric. They look like they are painted.

Wow! Stunning. How in the world is the water so shiny?

I live in the Cape peninsula and visit Hout Bay often. This quilt beautifully represents the vibrancy of the harbour and the country.

This is exciting to me (less than to Cynthia of course) as I saw her give her first talk to a guild in the early 1990s. She came to the Quilt Guild of Greater Houston day meeting and showed so many quilts, all excellent workmanship and each a different style/pattern. She still claims that she was terribly nervous but she was the excited professional she is today! Congratulations Cynthia!

This quilt is a jaw dropper, I can watch the water moving.
